PHENOMENALLY UNIQUE CAPE TOWN ...

#abfav_holidays_theme Table Mountain has its own cloud cover (the Tablecloth), forming rapidly when the wind is in the southeast and is mainly responsible for the lush plateau vegetation. Table Mountain’s ‘tablecloth’ is an orographic cloud formation (clouds that develop in response to the forced lifting of air by the earth’s topography). As a south-easterly wind blowing up the mountain slopes meets colder air at higher altitude, condensation takes place and a thick mist soon coats the top-most regions of the mountain. As the cloud cover pours over the side of the mountain, the process is reversed. Clouds encounter warmer air layers lower down, where the moisture evaporates, making the clouds disappear. Despite its undeniable beauty, the tablecloth can be dangerous to unwary hikers. The cloud often descends rapidly, obscuring visibility and posing a threat to hikers unfamiliar with the mountain. This is a view taken from the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in the historic heart of Cape Town's working harbour and South Africa's most-visited destination, having the highest rate of foreign tourists of any attraction in the country. Prince Alfred, second son of Queen Victoria, began construction of the harbour in 1860. The first basin was named after himself, the second after his mother, hence the name. The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront development is a renewal project that incorporates much of the historic harbour infrastructure. WINDOWS-2017… LEEDS

#ABFAV_FAVOURITE_PLACES_THEME This is the Market in Leeds, Yorkshire, beautiful inside and out. Victorian buildings, small shops on the outside, facing the streets, market stalls on the inside. I love photographing silhouette, but when I saw the sky reflected in those windows, aahh well, that really 'made' it for me. I first visited Leeds when I was 11, been coming here ever since. One of the main cities in the biggest county in England: Yorkshire. THE LITTLE HOUSE ON THE MOORS…

This is above Dowry Reservoir, on Saddleworth Moor. Saddleworth Moor is in the South Pennines in North West England. We drove though this majestic, barren landscape one Sunday, the clouds were again racing in the blue sky, which always make the landscape even more interesting because of the fast changing light play on the flanks, bringing out the shapes of the hills and the bold folds created over the centuries. It was a good harvest; we came home fulfilled, windblown and glowing. February, still the beauty that surrounds us in everything for those willing to see. I decided to upload a series of landscapes, gathered over the years. Mostly in the UK. Most of them have never seen the light of day, because my flower photography has overtaken my world somewhat. And much as I love it, my ‘other’ photography is as important to me. Have a sunny day and thanx for your visit, M, (*_*) For more of my other work visit here: www.indigo2photography.com Please do not COPY or use any of my images on websites, blogs or any other media without my explicit permission. © All rights reserved

An INDIGO EVENING…

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ The weather had been fierce the whole day, the wind winding and hounding around the house, pulling at everything, with rain lashing against the windows. Here the sun sets at 4.15 now, so dark very early, it seemed like we'd never had a day, when I noticed a bit of golden sheen, I looked and this greeted me. An Indigo sky with a strip of pale light. I grabbed my camera, opened the window and took the image. We live on the side of a hill, it glides down into the Dale and climbs back up. Wish you a glorious day and thanx for your visits, M, (*_*) For more of my other work visit here: www.indigo2photography.com IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) FULL MOON...

#ABFAV_FAVOURITE_SKIES_THEME It was the day after the Super Moon. The moon was in and out, playing with the clouds. Waiting for the midnight ferry in Dover, to take us across the Channel to the Continent/France. One hour late because of delays caused by the storm the previous day and night. The North-Sea, Channel can be treacherous. We just had a 6 hour drive South behind us, with rain and wind and road-works! I was looking forward to seeing family and friends. So, excited and thrilled, I grabbed my camera and waited for the moon to reappear. Bang... gotcha. MIRROR SEA in WALES…

The sun shone so very bright on the water that all detail waas lost, it was like a mirror, blinding to the eyes. It gives for stranger colours and light-play. This is up the Great Orme (Y Gogarth), a high peninsula and a spectacular limestone headland which rises above Llandudno on the coast of North Wales to a height of 200m (679ft). Behind her are the hills from the National park, they grow into higher mounts, the peak is Mount Snowdon, 1085m, the highest mountain in England and Wales. This is the view from 'almost' at the top, looking down and facing South, on the left is Conwy Bay, on the (straight} horizon Anglesey. There is a timeless and carefree feel to this place, your lungs are so full of fresh air it fills your head too, leaving no room for life's woe. If you want to get high and forget all your troubles, put things back into perspective, go to the top of the Great Orme, stand there, tears streaming down your cheeks. Wind? Joy? Emotion? The wind? Probably all of it. Who cares, it just made it more difficult to look through the viewer, ha. Taken with my Nikon F4, on 400 Iso film, hence the 'grain', which I often favoured. AAAHHH, TO STAND AND STARE… in WALES

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ "LEISURE" What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty's glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance. No time to wait till her mouth can Enrich that smile her eyes began. A poor life this is, if full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. By Wm. EPIC BEAUTY in WALES…

SUN SETS OVER ANGLESEY...

#ABFAV_FAVOURITE_SKIES_THEME I photographed this from he Great Orme (Welsh: Y Gogarth or Pen y Gogarth) is a prominent limestone headland on the north coast of Wales situated in Llandudno. It was a beautiful brisk evening on the Great Orme (Y Gogarth), a high peninsula I'll show you more of later, on top of which the oldest copper mines in the world can still be seen. It is referred to as Cyngreawdr Fynydd in a poem by the 12th century poet Gwalchmai ap Meilyr. THANX for ALL your comments and visits, so appreciated,. RED SKY AT NIGHT...

#abfav_shadows_silhouettes_theme CONSTANTINE BAY, Cornwall. This is the first part of the weather-lore rhyme: Red sky at night; shepherd's delight, Red sky in the morning; shepherd's warning... The 'red sky at night' rhyme is more than an old wives' tale though and has some meteorological foundation - in England at least. Sometimes the phrase involves sailors rather than shepherds - both have a more than usual interest in the weather! The end of a beautiful day, saturated with fresh air, warm sun, visual joy and lots of good photography. We had to drive fast from Padstow to get the sun in the right place, we were 'the original sunset-chasers', tee hee. We made it in time, of course I have the 'by the second' disappearance of the sun into the sea, however it was the other beauty surrounding it that interested me most! Like this afterglow, that panoply of stunning colours. I hadn't bothered to bring my tripod, just found myself a spot to sit, rested my elbows on my knees and held my breath... THANX FOR VIEWING, as ALWAYS, much appreciated. I hope you get as much pleasure out of them as I do, M, (*_*) For more of my other work visit here: www.indigo2photography.com IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) THE WING OF AN ANGEL?

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ We'd had rain and floods in June and July that year, so as we left a sodden Yorkshire for the 6/7hrs drive South for our midnight ferry to the Continent, about 4 hrs into the journey, just above London, the sun came through and I saw this cloud in the sky. It looked like the wing of an angel... even if you don't 'believe' in them... I have been fortunate enough in my life to have a few angels! To me the 'earthly' angels are those who wear the kindness of their heart visibly on their face, you see it in their eyes, the goodness a halo surrounding them, they radiate with that beauty. They are compassionate, feel empathy, are there for you always! Some I've sadly lost and luckily been replaced by new ones, life can be good if you will let it?! DAY 4 IT WAS A LONG DAY… On our way home, I spot a hot-air balloon, gently floating through the sky, above the city. Must be quite a spectacular view! In the last sunlight of the evening. THE WEATHER OF CAPE TOWN 4...

It had been another lovely, warm and sunny day. We were on the flank of Table Mountain, overlooking the city, on the right, Lion's Head and Signal Hill. Light-play quite visible, a great quick-changing spectacle. We got this epic sky. Towards the end, we heard the echoing of the rumbles, quite eerie and menacing, like it came from inside the mountain! You could see the rain coming in above the Atlantic. We headed home, to be followed! THE WEATHER OF CAPE TOWN 8...

A PASTEL SKY. The sun goes down, behind Table Mountain, Lion's head... there is an after-glow that lights up the sky and paints it in the most gorgeous soft colours! As I noticed, so often in the evening the wind is off-shore, it gives the incoming waves a veil fit for a bride, I know locally they call them 'horses', and I can see why. Like most evenings, Paul is on the beach catching the sunset view HERE The end of another beautiful day. LA MER...

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ I stood on the edge of The Great Orme, (Welsh: Y Gogarth or Pen y Gogarth) a prominent limestone headland on the north coast of Wales situated in Llandudno. A REAL TREAT LARGE. I was looking out towards Ireland, the light changing constantly playing on the water, seeing the clouds race, the wind tearing at my hair, at my clothes, my eyes were watering and I loved every nano-second of it! And this went through my head: "LEISURE" What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night. ON A STORMY SUNDAY...A CHRISTMAS THEME.

For December I am uploading images to do with the festive season. This is many different things, as you can see. Again between Christmas and the New Year On a stormy Sunday, while visiting one of my sons, and his little family, who lives in Holland, the beach called... After a copious meal, what better than to go out for a brisk walk, warm clothes, good boots, to fight the wind and brace the elements. I’m one of those people who just loves the beach and the sea in Wintertime! Then come home all aglow and rejuvenated, to a nice cup of hot chocolate... It also gives for many a great image and often strange colour skies. I wasn’t the only one that day near Scheveningen or Katwijk (sorry, can't remember now), but I sure enjoyed it. Hope you do too. This is the way the image came out, no manipulation. I wish a wonderful day and thanx for viewing and your time, Magda (*_*) For more of my other work visit here: www.indigo2photography.co.uk IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) SMUGGLER'S COVE...

FLAMBOROUGH, probably our favourite 'haunt', the weather and colours typical 'North-Sea'... We both grew up on the Coast, with the sea, its pleasures and its dangers.View On Black This wonderful place is on the North-Yorkshire Heritage coast. You have Flamborough Head with the lighthouse, The North Landing = Smuggler's Cove, you can see where it gets its name, when the tide is out, you can get into the caves, and The South Landing where the Life guards have their house and boat. All within a mile from each other, three different places entirely, in the center a small village. In time you'll get to know its beauty, through the seasons ALWAYS special, its people, birds and superb views, changing with the weather, influencing the -all so impoprtant- light! INTO THE NIGHT...

MY IMAGES ARE FOR SALE ONLY FROM ME, DIRECTLY, see below! This IS the link to a live and exclusive interview!!! I get so many questions every day, I thought it might be a good idea, so here goes: Best view it Large, in HD, AND it is 17 minutes!!!! Sit back and ENJOY. For those who viewed it already, thank you for your feedback, lovely, PLUS an EXTRA STORY: HERE, youtu.be/2iX5id0dSnY www.youtube.com/watch?v=3u1aOqA4KdM We had the good fortune to experience a night SHRIMP FISHING! Here a snippet from the story: The other boats were leaving one by one, slotting in, from left, right and centre, different docks. Black silhouettes against a clear blue sky. The light had that incredible quality, so sought after by photographers and painters. …The skipper steered the boat with a steady hand. We gently rocked towards the ends of the two piers, people on both watching and waving. I remembered the many times I stood there, doing the same and dreaming of adventure. This is now a document...the East-pier used on the right here, has been demolished, apparently to make the harbour-entrance bigger. It used to be so special! The two piers like two embracing arms, either welcoming you when you came home or loath to let you go when you were leaving… Whether for pleasure or work… M, (*_*) For more of my other work or if you want to PURCHASE (ONLY PLACE TO BUY MY IMAGES!), VIEW THE NEW PORTFOLIOS AND LATEST NEWS HERE on our website: www.indigo2photography.co.uk IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) PRIME VIEW...

RUNSWICK BAY. We drove through the Cleveland Hills, North-Yorkshire, the weather getting more and more ominous as we got closer to the Heritage Coast, flat light, no detail in the sky, ah well it was going to be 'an outing' of discovery and mental photography... That's how we came to this beautiful little village, the road ends just before this, I was so enthralled by what I saw, grabbed my stuff, jumped out of the car, ran towards the sea, this was my first shot. EVENING SETS OVER RUNSWICK BAY...

#ABFAV_FAVOURITE_PLACES_THEME The South side of the bay, towards Kettleness. Runswick Bay has been inhabited since before Roman times, as burial mounds found on the moors behind the village suggest. This delightful hideaway, with its steep(VERY STEEP!!!) track down into the bay, its sheltered anchorage offering an ideal spot for fishermen, whalers and smugglers. This secluded village, which is hidden from the main road, has only a handful of permanent residents therefore providing a quieter than average retreat. We stay there awhile, till the light goes and wow are we being treated!! AND ANOTHER ASPECT of THE SEA... ÉTRETAT, NORMAND

MY IMAGES ARE FOR SALE ONLY FROM ME, DIRECTLY, see below! Étretat by night with sunset from promenade We drove to Étretat, in Normandy. There's an 80-mile stretch of sheer cliffs between Dieppe and Étretat, in upper Normandy, mirrored by those of the English coast of Dover, pointing to their shared geological origin, no other section of the French coast resembles the unique breathtaking seascape of La Côte d'Albâtre (the Alabaster Coast). Around Fécamp it also goes by the poetic name of le Pays des Hautes Falaises (high cliff country) filled with the flavour of salty air and the shrieks of aerobatic gliding gulls. This part of France, called Le Pays de Caux (chaux=chalk), attracted many a famous painter and writer, like Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas, Samuel Beckett, in the 19th century, especially the Impressionists namely Courbet and Monet, who were captivated by its ever-changing light. The poet Guy de Maupassant spent most of his childhood in Étretat . Although Alabaster seems to be the most appropriate name because of the chalky whiteness of the cliffs, closer examination reveals black and ochre flint, also salty rust... (see previous) From the low nestled town and beach, you can see two natural arches and the pointed "needle", they are the Porte d'Aval, and the Porte d'Amont. Étretat is a very pretty little place. As soon as you step onto the chingle beach you'll see the cliff formations to either side. To the west, on the Falaise d'Aval, a straightforward if precarious walk leads up the crumbling side of the cliff, with lush lawns and pastures to the inland side, to the point where the turf abruptly stops, occasionally ripped by the latest fall of cliff. The Falaise d'Amont is on its eastern side – which Maupassant compared to an elephant dipping its trunk into the ocean – are what stick in the memory. The cliff itself presents an idyllic rural scene, with a gentle (ahem, STEEP) footpath winding up the green hillside to the little chapel of Notre-Dame, from where you have a spectacular view. In the evening, after a meal, we were treated with a fabulous sunset and the lighting on The Door and Needle of La Falaise d'Amont... taken from the promenade. An 'older' image, on film, no filters nor manipulation... We lived on the 10th floor, a penthouse, on the one side the sea, the other the city. Many an evening, as we came home from a days' work, we'd be just in time for the evening light and although 'scratchy-eyed' from looking through the lens most of the day, we could not resist picking up our cameras again to capture the beauty, so different each time. FREEDOM... Here the yacht was slowly sterring to the harbour, a slight distant sea-mist hung over the North-Sea, the sun almost disappeared behind a low band of cloud, leaving just some gold dust behind.... All you could hear was the gentle lapping of the wavelets, a lonely gull screeching in the dusk and smell the iodium, tar and salt sea-air. I do miss the sea... Have a lovely day and thanx for your time and comments, M, (*_*) For more of my other work visit here: www.indigo2photography.co.uk Please do not use this image on websites, blogs or any other media without my explicit permission. © All rights reserved

ON A STORMY SUNDAY...

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ I enjoy each season and I'm happy with the variety they bring, While visiting one of my sons, and his little family, who lives in Holland, the beach called... I wish a wonderful day and thanx for viewing and your time, Magda (*_*) For more of my other work visit here: www.indigo2photography.com IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) CAPRICE OF NATURE...

Waiting in the car, overlooking the sea, until the thunderstorm passed. Just as it was safe (not raining anymore!) and I got out, I saw this strange phenomenon, a strange glow and light in the sky, seagulls filling the sky, where did they suddenly appear from? AND AGAIN, FOR THE GREAT EXPERIENCE: View On Black I had watched the yacht’s progress, wanted it in the exact right place. The sun came peering through very brightly and shone on the water. I knew I did not have much time. I guess I work best under pressure... Again, no manipulation, colours as they came out on neg. I suppose, typical North sea. BEACH

#ABFAV_FAVOURITE_PLACES_THEME … This is the beach in Ostend, Flanders… but no matter what country, wherever… BEACH, SEA are so my faves! I love the peace of solitude, the deafening silence, when the only ‘disturbance ‘ is the sound of the shutter. I was just standing, enjoying the quick change of light, the great beauty and then… I saw this, a MUST take image, so in harmony with my soul. Sometimes, it is ’just’ THERE. THE HOMECOMING...

MY IMAGES ARE FOR SALE ONLY FROM ME, DIRECTLY, see below! We came back on last night, via France. This was almost the entrance of the Harbour of Dover. We were still 6 hours away from home! You can see the famous castle on the top of the cliffs. A gorgeous sky after the sunset welcomed us. It is always an emotional moment, the moment you feel this mastodont of a boat tear itself loose from the quayside at Dunkirk in France, gently the land slides away in the distance, you can see England already, it is only a two hour fare... My heart was in my throat, we had a wonderful few days, saw and held the family, and friends, revisited favourite haunts, discovered new ones. We worked and 'played', laughed and cried (with laughter), sang and danced, drank and ate, fed our always 'hungry' eyes, came home with a zillion good souvenirs and the images to prove it. However like each time, mixed feelings, sad to leave, happy to go home, saturated once more with friendship, love and beauty.Hello all, we're back! Hope you are well and had a great May so far? DONE FOR THE DAY AGAIN...

The sun was fast dropping, I was on my way home after a hectic day shooting a 10 hr wedding. I desperately needed to unwind, what better way, he? Take some more shots!!! For A GREAT EXPERIENCE: Large AND View On Black As I used 400 ASA film, I pushed the limits, keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a fantastic result. This was hit and miss stuff. Ah well… The sun painted the sky and beach in a golden glow, it got too dark... I was done for the day! THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT, A SUNSET...

Sometimes, one lucky evening, the sky and sea seem to merge at the horizon in a long, lingering embrace. No more definition between the two, one big expanse, a palette of layered colours from dark to light to dark and light, Spectacular, a vision to behold! View Large and On Black I do not understand those that tire of such ever-changing beauty, blasé about it? So many greats, in all fields have been inspired by this! We are crossing the Channel, one of the busiest sea-lanes in the world! getting OFF the Island, for work(?) and play... AIN'T NO SUNSHINE ...

We are safely back, tired and satisfied. It was a marathon!!! Great to go, good to come home! I love the sea, I love the sun, I love the evening, I love the evening light, I love the sunset... I don't like saying good-bye. In our lives, people come and people go, ships passing, together for a passage in time, enjoy and making the best of what we get. Where we lived, on the tenth floor, the penthouse on the promenade, we saw the ferries all the time, I always felt a bit of melancholy when they were leaving, following the meandering wake out, thinking that some were going home, standing on the bow looking forward, excited at the prospect, others standing at the stern, staring back, leaving loved ones, for how... long? You never know! I see it on every ferry that I travel on. Lead and enjoy a good life, do and say things that enrich... and do not forget to tell the people close to you, how much you love them! You'll be able to live a life with few regrets! LAST EVENING-FLIGHT…

…But Jonathan Livingston Seagull, unashamed, stretching his wings again in that trembling hard curve - slowing, slowing, and stalling once more - was no ordinary bird. Most gulls don't bother to learn more than the simplest facts of flight - how to get from shore to food and back again. For most gulls, it is not flying that matters, but eating. For this gull, though, it was not eating that mattered, but flight. More than anything else. Jonathan Livingston Seagull loved to fly… EXCERPT: Richard Bach. Jonathan Livingston Seagull A typical North Sea scene. No matter how many times I'll see this in my life, I'll always stand in awe and wonder for such beauty, it will never cease to impress me with it's constant variety, this play and display of light. Peace descends and envelops my soul. No manipulation nor filters used, none needed! I prefer taking 'uplifting' images...life is tough enough, there is more than plenty of 'darkness' and 'Angst'... I am not 'hiding' from reality, only refuse to only live with 'that', I want to show there IS still 'ANOTHER', beautiful, side to it... for those who care to look? LAST SHIMMER...

A SUNSET. (excerpt from a poem by Victor Hugo) ...All vanishes! The Sun, from topmost heaven precipitated, Like a globe of iron which is tossed back fiery red Into the furnace stirred to fume, Shocking the cloudy surges, plashed from its impetuous ire, Even to the zenith spattered in a flecking scud of fire The vaporous and inflamed spume... For me, no matter how many sunsets... each one different and fresh and rich and more spectacular than the previous one, a miracle to my eyes each time. Dusk is probably my favourite time, to reflect back on the day and look forward to the evening, the next day, the next sunset...and such, life passes... Nature at its best. This is again taken from the terrace of the penthouse we used to live in, one side overlooking the sea, the other the town. Even after a full day’s work I would very much relax with a glass of Chardonnay and my camera, looking at the sea-traffic and ultimately the sunset. This is one of them. It is a well known fact that the Channel is one of the busiest sea lanes, the big tankers and container ships often just lying there, like waiting... the small boat is a shrimper, trawling close to the Coast for shrimp, sole, plaice... ENJOY IT LARGE and View On Black The huge sun ball gave a last shimmering glow before disappearing into the sea, embracing the night already... NO FILTERS USED OR PP, a film neg scanned... DRAMA IN THE SKY...

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ From the series 'Celestial delights'. Never have I seen better and more beautiful skies to photograph than here in Yorkshire, especially in the late Autumn and early Winter. The added bit for me is the plane, on its descending path to the airport, way in the distance, gives the magnitude even more impact. It feels so textured and opulent, yet is so ephemeral, and never the same twice you shall see... awesome thought. This image has not been manipulated. I prefer taking 'uplifting' images...life is tough enough, there is more than plenty of 'darkness' and 'Angst'... AFTERGLOW…

Tour of Europe 04 2016
Day 13 I stand and enjoy… the sky, the last elegant flight of the seagulls against the gold. I only take the one shot. Not everything in life is about photography, it is good to take in scenes and moments, without having to ‘record’ them. Something I see all over, people arrive somewhere, up the phone or camera, and gone… will they look at it at home? As an photo? And forget to look when they are there? Another sign of the times? I am so glad I have my ‘MIND’S’ camera, as a way of connecting fully with the world. I come home with so many more beautiful images than there are in the camera, LOL Have a wonderful day, filled with love and beauty, M, (*_*) For more of my other work or if you want to PURCHASE (ONLY PLACE TO BUY OUR IMAGES!), VIEW THE NEW PORTFOLIOS AND LATEST NEWS HERE on our website: www.indigo2photography.com Please do not COPY or use any of my images on websites, blogs or any other media without my explicit permission. © All rights reserved

HOME SWEET HOME…

DAY 10 We are safely back home. We came in at 4 this morning, tired and satisfied. It was a real sentimental and photographic journey. I love ‘going’ and I also love ‘returning’, like I said, the temperatures were what most people dream of for their holidays, warm, dry, blue skies… euuhh, not me… I prefer not too hot, sun in and out, some interesting white fluff in the blue. LOL Especially in a city like Brugge, where streets are narrow and the old stone walls retain and radiate the heat! But apart from that, it was fabulous, met family and friends, spent some lovely time together, good food, great memories. I wish you all the very best and thanx for all your kind words, time, comments, likes and faves. Very much appreciated. SPECTACULAR...

Another night another image... From the series 'Celestial delights'. The story behind this image still makes me smile: The seaside view from the terrace of the 10th floor penthouse where we used to live. We’d had a very busy day in the studio and after a quick light meal, just sat there unwinding with a nice glass of cool Chardonnay, enjoying the fresh sea air, the nightlight, the sound of the water, when SUDDENLY, a first distant rumble and a flash of lightning. We bumped each other as we both rushed inside for camera and tripod. Set it all up, went back to our chairs and wine, and waited. I saw it moving across the sea, opened my lens and let the camera record this fabulous lightshow of Nature. With the cable release in one hand, wine in the other, yep, that’s the life, he? Mind you, this was a one off, there was no rain and no danger, just this awesome spectacle. Wonderful, great memories. (*_*) PS:it must have been F11 and open for between 1 to 3 min. It's done by 'feeling', if you get a lot of flashes in the first few seconds, then, you've got your shot, otherwise, you wait and have sip of wine... This here is NOT an 'exact' science, the success depends entirely on the elements! This was the best out of three. THE SKEW BARN...

On my way to the Yorkshire Moors, the weather changed again, he sky was ominous and the light dramatic ... then I saw this!!! A skew old barn in the spotlight, luckily, I could stop and park, my camera at hand, as usual, what a beauty! The landscape, as usual, fabulous in any season, with those shadows cast by the clouds moving like a painter's hands across the fields and hills. THE LITTLE HOUSE ON THE MOORS...

It is very desolate, high on the North-Yorkshire Moors, there’s very little vegetation; the heather is lost, being replaced by coarse, unpalatable grasses and bracken, maintained by some sheep. In the distance you see some loose stone wall, the wind playing its whistling tune on the grasses. I drove though this majestic, barren landscape. The sun still powerful enough to burn the morning haze, the clouds were now again racing in the blue sky, which always make the landscape even more interesting because of the fast changing light play on the flanks, bringing out the shapes of the hills and the bold folds created over the centuries. I wouldnd't mind living in a place like this, I love the sound of deafening silence... It was a good harvest; came home fulfilled, windblown and glowing. ART by CHANCE...

This was taken from the car as we came back to base in West-Flanders, from a trip to France. The sun was going down fast above Flanders' fields, it was beautiful, I chanced it... I do not often use the word art , but this? I think it is special, the church just sharp, so typically Flanders. It's rapidly becoming a personal favourite! ...At 70 miles/hour, there's bound to be something in your shot, or when the fraction in time and space is just perfect, yes, you guessed it, a bump or a pothole, grrr... only another type of frustration? FLANDERS, A winter-sunset

waited a long time for the right moment, was on my way home when I saw this in the side mirror. I left my car on the side of the narrow road, grabbed my camera. Nikon F4 and 400asa film, scanned from neg and comp in camera! This is so very typical, the gnarled willows to keep the flat land 'dry', the sky reaching poplars, the majestic elm trees standing tall against the North wind. In winter the sun just drops,he? Ah well I got it... M, (*_~) For more of my other work visit here: www.indigo2photography.co.uk IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) MY ETERNAL FLANDERS...

#abfav_holidays_theme "The bells have rung, the echoes sound The day is gone Ay, Marieke, Marieke In Flanders field the echoes sound The day is gone" (excerpt from 'Ay Marieke' by Jacques Brel) Today it it FLANDERS’ National Day, remembering the Gold Spurs Battle, 11-07-1302, an important date in Flemish history! This flat, windswept land, so fertile, so mutilated in the past. The stretch behind the dunes is still, like in the Middle Ages dotted with those 'round' villages. Church and graveyard in the center, houses around in a circle, the road, often still cobblestones, meandering through it.Flanders... where I was born... It was a soft windstill evening, a beautiful silence caressed my ears, the layered fog effacing whole sections of the land from my eyes, trailing capriciously in the sigh of the sunset, becoming denser in darkness... I left the bottom in because that's how it was, grey and darker and lighter again. Yes, born in Flanders it is now a twice-yearly holiday destination... LIFE! A CELESTIAL TREAT...

MY IMAGES ARE FOR SALE ONLY FROM ME, DIRECTLY, see below I love skies, especially dramatic ones, I can just sit there and dream away in them, I hear music with it, a great joy in my life, food for my soul. Taken in my beloved Flanders... you can just see the tops of the 'knotted' willows, so typical of the landscape. Super absorbing, these Willows are often planted as barriers on the borders of the small streams, dividing plots, so their interlacing roots may protect the bank against the action of the water. BRUGES S’EVEILLE…

Tour of Europe 04 2016
Day 13 Il est six heures, Bruges s’éveille… (It is 6 o’clock, Bruges awakens..) My body clock wakes me up, the light comes through the curtains… I jump out of bed and grab my camera, which of course wakes Paul, he doesn’t mind. We are enchanted by the new day’s light, we don’t say anything, we do not want to disturb the beautiful silence, it is magic. AN INDIGO EVENING...A CHRISTMAS THEME

For December I am uploading images to do with the festive season. This is many different things, as you can see. The weather had been fierce the whole day, the wind winding and hounding around the house, pulling at everything, with rain lashing against the windows. We get the mostmagnificent and dramatic sunsets, this one turned INDIGO... Wish you a glorious day and thanx for your visits, M, (*_*) For more of my other work visit here: www.indigo2photography.co.uk IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) NIGHT FALLS on THE DALES...A CHRISTMAS THEME.

For December I am uploading images to do with the festive season. This is many different things, as you can see. Between Christmas and the New Year, I had been out photographing the whole afternoon,in the Yorkshire Dales, more precisely Wharfedale, where the river Wharfe meanders through the valleys. I try to find viewpoints high on the ridges. It was getting dark fast now and the chilly wind seemed to find a way through the layers of clothing, I'd finished my films, the light was gone, and the warmth of home beckoned appealingly. I drove the narrow road, when I suddenly saw this. The last bit of light of the day, almost turned night. The stars winking at me, yes, encouragement... lol Never was a film loaded so quickly with such cold hands. No time for tripod, pushing the camera to the limit: I took one shot: this one. SPECTACLE of LIGHT…

Another night another image... Does anything give as much pleasure as NATURE? Thank you, M, (*_*) PS:it must have been F11 and open for between 1 to 3 min. It's done by 'feeling', if you get a lot of flashes in the first few seconds, then, you've got your shot, otherwise, you wait and have sip of wine... This here is NOT an 'exact' science, the success depends entirely on the elements! This was the best out of three.
