EQUILIBRIUM… SLINKY

I laced 5 small ‘party’ slinkies together and made them stand in balance... not easy, lol A Slinky is a toy pre-compressed helical spring invented by Richard James. It can perform a number of tricks, including travelling down a flight of steps end-over-end as it stretches and re-forms itself with the aid of gravity and its own momentum. In 1943, Richard James, a naval mechanical engineer stationed at the William Cramp and Sons shipyards in Philadelphia, was developing springs that could support and stabilise sensitive instruments aboard ships in rough seas. James accidentally knocked one of the springs from a shelf, and watched as the spring "stepped" in a series of arcs to a stack of books, to a tabletop, and to the floor, where it re-coiled itself and stood upright. James's wife Betty later recalled, "He came home and said, 'I think if I got the right property of steel and the right tension; I could make it walk.'" James experimented with different types of steel wire over the next year, and finally found a spring that would ‘walk’. Betty was dubious at first, but changed her mind after the toy was fine-tuned and neighbourhood children expressed an excited interest in it. She dubbed the toy Slinky; meaning "sleek and graceful” Great fun from Studio Indigo. MESMERISING SLINKY…

On COLOURS... Light and colour can influence how people perceive the area around them. Different light sources affect how the colours of walls and other objects are seen. Specific hues of colours seen under natural sunlight may vary when seen under the light from an incandescent (tungsten) light-bulb: lighter colours may appear to be more orange or "brownish" and darker colours may appear even darker. Light and the colour of an object can affect how one perceives its positioning. If light or shadow, or the colour of the object, masks an object's true contour (outline of a figure) it can appear to be shaped differently than it really is. Objects under a uniform light-source will promote better impression of three-dimensional shape. The colour of an object may affect whether or not it seems to be in motion. In particular, the trajectories of objects under a light source whose intensity varies with space are more difficult to determine than identical objects under a uniform light source. Carl Jung is most prominently associated with the pioneering stages of colour psychology. Jung was most interested in colours’ properties and meanings, as well as in Art’s potential as a tool for psychotherapy. Colour has long been used to create feelings of cosiness or spaciousness. However, how people are affected by different colour-stimuli varies from person to person. There is evidence that colour preference may depend on ambient temperature. People who are cold prefer warm colours like red and yellow while people who are hot prefer cool colours like blue and green. A few studies have shown that cultural background has a strong influence on colour preference. These studies have shown that people from the same region regardless of race will have the same colour preferences. I'm ALWAYS fascinated by COLOUR! A BUNCH of HAPPINESS… GERBERA

To ease off the stresses of the week, deep breath, sigh, hope you had a relaxed w-e! Take time to enjoy the flowers! Gerbera is a genus of ornamental plants from the sunflower family. It was named in honour of the German naturalist Traugott Gerber. It has approximately 30 species in the wild, extending to South America, Africa and tropical Asia. Colours include white, yellow, orange, red, and pink. The center of the flower is sometimes black. It is the fifth most used cut flower in the world (after rose, carnation, chrysanthemum, and tulip). DOUBLE FUN, ORANGE PEELS…

Two orange peels, intact. Orange is the colour between yellow and red on the spectrum of visible light. In painting and traditional colour theory, it is a secondary colour of pigments, created by mixing red and yellow. It is named after the fruit of the same name. The orange colour of carrots, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, oranges, and many other fruits and vegetables comes from carotenes, a type of photosynthetic pigment. These pigments convert the light energy that the plants absorb from the sun into chemical energy for the plants' growth. Similarly the hues of autumn leaves are from the same pigment after chlorophyll is removed. In Europe and America, surveys show that orange is the colour most associated with amusement, the unconventional, extroverts, warmth, fire, energy, activity, danger, taste and aroma, the autumn and Allhallowtide seasons. In Asia it is an important symbolic colour of Buddhism and Hinduism. BIG BADABOOM…

A colour-explosion… for BONFIRE-NIGHT, TONIGHT 5 November.... Guy Fawkes Night 5 November is Bonfire night in England. Remember, remember, the fifth of November, Gunpowder, treason and plot. We see no reason why Gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot!" Words to Guy Fawkes rhyme. In November 1605, the infamous Gunpowder Plot, the failed attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament by Guy Fawkes along with a group of conspirators, took place. The story is remembered and celebrated each November 5th when 'Guys' are burned in a celebration known as "Bonfire Night". Huge parties all over, in every city and town, villages and parks, the spires are ready, the fireworks waiting to be lit. Preparations for Bonfire Night celebrations include making a dummy of Guy Fawkes, which is called "the Guy". Some children even keep up an old tradition of walking in the streets, carrying "the Guy" they have just made, and beg passers-by for "a penny for the Guy." The kids use the money to buy fireworks for the evening festivities. LOTS of FIREWORK! Another graphic image with old favourites: pencils… The latest from Studio Indigo. #abfav_autumn When I am out and about, like last weeks, in Scotland, my main interest is never far from my brain, I always scan for ‘bounty, so, I brought back, found on the ground: Maple-copters, Mountain Ash berries, small cones and rose-bottles. Not just leaves that maked the Autumn! LOL Yep, I bring ‘work’ home, all too happy to! As always, fun from Studio Indigo. RED OCTOBER… ROWAN berries

I found these on the ground, in the ‘wild’. Berries are so autumnal, only very few are edible now, except for the birds and other animals. A jelly made from them is popular for dressing game. According to Robert James in 1747, the fruit is excellent for treating the scurvy, and the exudates from the bark is good for the diseases of the spleen. When dried and powdered the berries have been turned into a type of bread, and in an infusion make an acidulous drink. A gargle made from the berries is good for a sore throat and inflamed tonsils. However, it is bitter – very bitter. Sorbus is a genus of about 100–200 species of trees and shrubs in the rose family Rosaceae. Species of Sorbus are commonly known as white-beam, rowan, service tree and mountain-ash. This upright, tree is the most compact of the Rowan trees making it ideal for small gardens. Fluffy, white corymbs of flowers appear in April-May that are popular with bees. Mid/dark green pinnate foliage turns vibrant shades of orange and red in the autumn which complements the reddish orange berries that hang in heavy clusters and are a treat for the birds. Popular folklore maintains that a heavy crop of fruit means a hard or difficult winter. Similarly, in Finland and Sweden, the number of fruit on the trees was used as a predictor of the snow cover during winter. However, as fruit production for a given summer is related to weather conditions the previous summer, with warm, dry summers increasing the amount of stored sugars available for subsequent flower and fruit production, it has no predictive relationship to the weather of the next winter. ULTIMATE AUTUMN APOTHEOSE....

#abfav_autumn A grand celebration of Autumn. My neighbour grows this lovely vine... it is now absolutely delightful. I brought some leaves into the studio and made a few compositions. First thing you see of course are the colours in this grapevine leaf... but then the eye gets drawn in to complexity of the texture, all the veins, the small bumps, little scars due to weather or visitors? FALLEN GLORY...

#abfav_autumn I love Autumn; I perceive it as a time of 'reflection', look back on the past of this year, remembering the joys of spring, the warmth of summer... and always the light... It can be a bit nostalgic, the days get shorter, the shadows grow taller, however... the evenings get longer... it is cosy, bring out some candles, we seem to get ready for the 'hibernation', being more inside, wondering what this season has in store, will it be wet? Will it be cold? A long autumn and short winter, or a short autumn, making winter seem endless? Here the days now start quite misty, but the sun is still strong enough to burn it off, the evenings are cold, the skies are most beautiful, with sunsets to die for... In a sudden burst, the leaves change from tired-looking into this magic coat of colours. If lucky the fun can last, but it often takes only a few stormy hours to make it a multi-coloured carpet, bearing the now skeletal trees. Food for the roots, the new leaves next year... and so it goes on... year after year... A COLOURFUL GOOD-BYE! Taken in the studio, it was an 'easy' one to light! THE FALLEN…

#abfav_autumn aaah, those beautiful leaves of Autumn, so much reminding me of people. #abfav_autumn Hawthorn is beautiful all year round but especially in Autumn. LEAVES OUT OF MY LIFE...

#abfav_autumn I like the analogy, we are here for our one beautiful ‘season’, to bud, unfurl and grow, in sunshine and rain, in wind and storm, holding on. Some vulnerable to diseases, not making it... In light, in dark, brightness and fog, from fresh green to mature to colourful, with missing bits, some scars, by far not ‘perfect’ anymore if ever, ever more interesting and beautiful though, until we gently float down and come to a final rest… No, to me this is not negative, it is realistic, the way it is. Just a thought… SO, in my garden, this is the only plant I do not know the name of! I bought it on the market, years ago, it had a lovely photo of what it would become, no name though... shows again how deceptive photos can be, LOL. It is in fact tiny! Anyway, it is very hardy, with insignificant small leaves, in late Spring... it grows insignificant little white flowers, mostly hidden under the leaves, in Summer it is ... just there? Then comes Autumn, and the leaves turn on all the colours of the rainbow, for a few short weeks, two if your lucky with the weather, it becomes an ABSOLUTE focal point of attraction in the garden... pure GLORY... then it's gone again... till next year! I thought I'd share this with you. APOTHEOSE…

#abfav_autumn Plants are rapturing me with their stunning colours, sadly not for long this time, the strong winds play havoc, tear the leaves off the branches, throw them in the air, a few saltos and twirls and then down on the wet ground... nature... It is easy , in Autumn, to look past the weather, as we are being treated with a beautiful festival of colours. Selective dof. TO TICKLE YOUR FANCY?

LOL, I had these 6 glass, coloured ‘test’ tubes, and a big pack of feathers I separated the plumes, and had some fun in the studio with them. When finished, I saw the holder with the coloured glass, stored the feathers in them and was HIT by the visual: THE IMAGE! So it goes… By the way, I am not gay… these just happened to be the colours of the rainbow, which the gay community ‘appropriated’, making it sometimes more difficult for others to use these colours, without being labeled. Well not me, as you can tell by this creation from studio Indigo.. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet are the proper colours, so here Indigo missing, so I stepped in haha, completing it. WARM COLOURS…

PLEASE VIEW on BLACK. More of my coloured test-tubes and feathers. Warm colours are: red, orange and yellow. Colour theory classifies all shades of colours: warm colours convey joy, passion, sensuality, whilst cold colours are associated with sweetness and rest. Warm colours are exciting, they convey joy, strength, power, energy, passion. In the natural environment we can find the same analogies: blood is red, flames are orange and the sun is yellow and they are all warm. If we get into a yellow room, we will feel more cheerful and lively than if we enter a blue or green room, which conveys tranquillity. And there is another distinction: Red, orange and yellow (warm colours) have a positive radiation; Blue, violet and indigo (cold colours) have a negative radiation; Green is both negative and positive and many experts say that it is the link between the two categories. When we walk into a yellow room, we will feel more cheerful and lively than if we enter a blue or green room, which conveys tranquillity. FEATHERS in DETAIL…

Feathers insulate birds from water and cold temperatures. They may also be plucked to line the nest and provide insulation to the eggs and young. The individual feathers in the wings and tail play important roles in controlling flight.[17] Some species have a crest of feathers on their heads. Although feathers are light, a bird's plumage weighs two or three times more than its skeleton, since many bones are hollow and contain air sacs. Colour patterns serve as camouflage against predators for birds in their habitats. As with fish, the top and bottom colours may be different, in order to provide camouflage during flight. Striking differences in feather patterns and colours are part of the sexual dimorphism of many bird species and are particularly important in selection of mating pairs. A good alternative for flowers, if you want colour, shapes and textures, is feathers. I had a lot of fun with these, always trying to ‘perfection’ and bring the best. Here straight feathers in graduating Autumnal colours. I wish you all a very good day and thanks for all your kind words, time, comments and likes. Very much appreciated. GUILTY LITTLE PLEASURES... MACARONS

#abfav_multicolour We ALL need them, he? MMMMMMM, irresistible... euhhh to be photographed... and then (of course) savoured... Macaron is a sweet meringue-based confectionary made with egg whites, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond and food colouring. The French macaron is commonly filled with ganache, buttercream or jam filling sandwiched between two cookies. Its name is derived from the Italian word maccarone or maccherone. Not to be confused with the English MACAROONS!!! These here are the fancy French kind, not the rustic, chewy, coco-nutty variety. The confectionery is characterised by its smooth, domed top, ruffled circumference (referred to as the "foot"), and flat base. It is mildly moist and easily melts in the mouth. Macarons can be found in a wide variety of flavours that range from the traditional (raspberry, chocolate, caramel) to the new (marmite, matcha). The fillings can range from jams to ganache to butter. Here: Venezuelan Chocolate, Vanilla, Raspberry and Passion Fruit. Lead a sweet life! PRICKLY PEAR, the FRUIT…

#abfav_multicolours Figue de Barbarie, prickly pear or cactus pear is a fleshy berry produced originally from Mexico . The Prickly Pear Cactus ( Opuntia ficus-indica ) is a species of plant of the family Cactaceae , which has naturalised in other continents, especially around the Mediterranean and in South Africa and North Africa. It produces an edible fruit called prickly pear . The taste is very sweet, very different from the colours, and very appreciated by connoisseurs. It is eaten preferably very fresh. You can make fruit juices or jams. The difficulty of its consumption comes from the picking and cutting of the skin because it is provided with glochids , tiny spines invisible to the naked eye but very aggressive and very difficult to remove, as I experienced… Thank you for your time and comments, greatly appreciated, M, (*_*) For more of my other work or if you want to PURCHASE (ONLY PLACE TO BUY!), visit here: www.indigo2photography.com IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) SUMMER GEMS… ASTERS

#abfav_multicolour Yes, it is still Summer! And Asters are almost the latest flowers in the garden here, still some colour though, despite the weather. The most popular asters are Monte Casino and the New England aster. Asters range in colours of white, red, pink, purple, lavender and blue. Like the sunflower, the Aster flower is actually a collection of very tiny tubular flowers, which are grouped together in a central disk and surrounded by a “ray” of flowers or petals. Asters are one of the easiest garden perennials to cultivate. TOMATO…

#abfav_red The tomato is native to South America and a prehistoric introduction to Central America and Southern parts of North America. Genetic evidence shows that the progenitors of tomatoes were herbaceous green plants with small green fruit with a center of diversity in the highlands of Peru. Some believe Spanish explorer Cortez may have been the first to transfer the small yellow tomato to Europe after he captured the Aztec city of Tenochtítlan in 1521, now Mexico City. Yet others believe Christopher Columbus, an Italian working for the Spanish monarchy, discovered the tomato earlier in 1493. The earliest discussion of the tomato in European literature appeared in an herbal written in 1544 by Pietro Andrea Mattioli, an Italian physician and botanist, who named it pomi d’oro, golden apple. The tomato is an herbaceous plant of the nightshade family, as are its close cousins tobacco, potatoes, aubergine, chili peppers and the poisonous belladonna. More and more varieties in the shops, heirloom and colourful in all sizes, we are so fortunate to have ALL that choice! We can now buy "tomatoes on the vine", which are ripened or harvested with the fruits still connected to a piece of vine. These tend to have more flavour than artificially ripened tomatoes. Botanically, a tomato is the ovary, together with its seeds, of a flowering plant: therefore it is a fruit or, more precisely, a berry... NOT a vegetable. Bon appétit!! ART in PHOTOGRAPHY...

Until the day there is a definite and 'plausible' definition of ART, that's when I'll change my mind, in the mean-time, I'll stick to creative... When not 'dictated' by a client, I take images that come out of my brain, the birth of the idea, the development of it, my vision and the creation, my enjoyment and the challenge, the hype and the anticipation, the playing with light, to me, the ultimate high, I don't need anything else. Once the image is there, I'm content, and if it 'inspires' others, releases an emotion, that's wonderful! OKAY, now I AM sure I’ve cracked it… all my life I have been wondering, nay… agonising, debating nights: WHAT IS ART??? So, now at last, I know… it is so simple? My quote what ART is: ART is the interpretation of reality by an artist, in different media. So, the artist is the one who has the concept and the SKILLS to make the original idea a reality. Do you agree? Can you go one better? LOL. I wish you all the very best and thanx for all your kind words, time, comments and faves. Very much appreciated. PATH to LOVE…

#abfav_red …can take a lot of ‘meandering’… it is often a happy way, with surprises, fun and joy. Presents for your love, mostly wrapped with shiny red ribbon. Red, the colour of passion, red the colour most commonly associated with love, followed at a great distance by pink. It the symbolic colour of the heart and the red rose, is closely associated with romantic love or courtly love and Saint Valentine's Day. Red is the colour of celebration and ceremony. A red carpet is often used to welcome distinguished guests. Red, by a large margin, is the colour most commonly associated with seduction, sexuality, eroticism and immorality, possibly because of its close connection with passion and with danger. Another, more ‘graphic’ minimalism image, which I adore! WHY KNOT???

#abfav_red Some days I need colour, LOTS of COLOUR!!! I am spending a lot of time in the studio again at the moment. A photographer friend asked an interesting question, why do YOU take photographs? One answer for me is: I love the challenge, and it still is! Now it is with lighting, reflective objects and making it all work together the way I want it, and still be surprised, ALWAYS thrilled. A Nylon skipping rope, a prop for a Summer photo, I knotted it like when I was a little girl, then I saw THE image... I COULD BAKE YOU A SWEET RAINBOW in THESE???

#abfav_red LOL! Trendy cupcake moulds! Yes they are so very much the 'flavour' of the moment! A cupcake (also British English: fairy cake; Australian English: patty cake or cup cake) is a small cake designed to serve one person, frequently baked in a small, thin paper or aluminium cup. The first mention of the cupcake can be traced as far back as 1796, when a recipe notation of "a cake to be baked in small cups" was written in American Cookery by Amelia Simms. Cupcakes have become more than a trend over the years; they've become an industry and in the last two years or so, cupcakes really exploded!!! Birthday's, Wedding cakes, you name it... cupcakes! The 21st century cupcake variations are endless. They range from simple to sublime. Baking papers come in designer prints. Here they went for colours, which I loved! could, once again, not resist! MY PALETTE...

#ABFAV_FAVOURITE_THINGS_THEME AAAHH, the smell of linseed oil and terpentine! A BIG fave Fragrances are extremely important in my life. I've painted for as long as I can remember. I believe if you are a creative it is NEVER just in one field... I photographed one of my paintings, 60x50, and inserted it; I was so surprised when it actually matched the colours on my palette! Some of the brushes I used belonged to my grandfather and father. The painting is actually done completely with palet-knife, my fave tool. I painted with oils, watercolours but I made hundreds of soft pastels. I don't paint anymore now; I might again, one day, who knows? I believe you have to be in a specific ‘state of mind’, plus, I must admit that over the years Photography has satisfied my creative needs more and more. I’ll upload the above painting sometime for those who’d like to see it. I painted it from memory, a tour of Bretagne. I had been most impressed with the rough rocky coasts, the often emerald waters, the ‘wildness’ of the place. The photo was taken solely with ambient light. THE FOUR FEATHER DUSTERS...

I bought these four, all in striking colours, they are very decorative (when I have no fresh flowers I put those in a vase!). Can't get over the fact that they are each quite different, individuals, I wonder if it has to do with the paint? I love the deep rich tones and all the intricate detail, hope you do too. THE WONDROUS WORLD of THE PINK OYSTER MUSHROOMS...

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ FOUND/ BOUGHT them on the Farmers' market. The Oyster mushroom, or Pleurotus ostreatus, both the Latin and common name refer to the shape of the fruiting body. I love the detail in the gills! Many also believe that the name is fitting due to the flavour resemblance to oysters. The pink colour will fade on cooking. In fact, cooked oyster mushrooms all look the same, regardless of the colour they started as. These beautiful Oyster Mushrooms seem more like fast growing coral than easy to grow delicately flavoured treats.. Why not take a few minutes, CLICK on the link and WATCH, sit back and relax, enjoy the beauty, you'll feel replenished? ALWAYS QUESTIONS???

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ As far as I can remember, there was a question mark at the end of my sentence! That's how I gathered a load of knowledge, never been afraid to ask a question, so the subject of this image a very useful tool all through my life! Always hungry for the how and why. Yet, I, luckily, do not suffer from morbid curiosity about other people. I am a good listener, they can tell me things, I'm interested, but I will rarely ask personal questions. I don't consider this indifference, I call it respect. Think before you ask... there are questions... and: ...you HAVE to be able to live with the answer! If and when I want to photograph someone or something, I ask, if the answer is yes, I am happy, if it is no, I respect it, at least I ASKED! There are these four ways of answering questions. Which four? 1. There are questions that should be answered categorically [straightforwardly yes, no, this, that]. 2. There are questions that should be answered with an analytical (qualified) answer [defining or redefining the terms]. 3. There are questions that should be answered with a counter-question. 4. There are questions that should be put aside. These are the four ways of answering questions. WHY KNOT??? TO ART or NOT TO ART????

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ I am spending a lot of time in the studio at the moment. A photographer friend asked an interesting question, why do 'YOU' take photographs? One answer for me is I love the challenge, and it still is! Now it is with lighting, reflective objects and making it all work together the way I want it, and still be surprised, ALWAYS thrilled. A Nylon skipping rope, a prop for a Summer poster, I knotted it like when I was a little girl, then I saw THE image... I photographed it in my own style... Called this first one WHY KNOT??? Uploaded it and it did very well. Then I got an interesting comment that I want to share with you, as it provoked a reaction from me: "In a way this photo is everything that is WRONG with upload-sites. And, everything that's RIGHT. Some people will say what does a mess of different coloured string all placed together and tied into a knot mean? How is that art? Others will say ah, what an excellent metaphor/s that applies to so many themes. What a simple minimalist piece of art. Why didn't I think of that? It's been right in front of me a million times. Most people will lie somewhere in the middle, struggling with the image for a second and quickly flipping to the next piece. Isn't art strange? LOL Thanks for sharing,..." I replied by email: ... You mention the big A... art? I consider myself a creative photographer, not an art photographer. It is such a massive discussion what art is... been there, worn that T-shirt, lol. Until the day there is a definite and 'plausible' definition of ART, I'll change my mind, in the mean-time, I'll stick to creative... Photography is a craft that is acquired over many years! When not 'dictated' by a client, I take images that come out of my brain, the birth of the idea, the development of it, my vision and the creation, my enjoyment and the challenge, the hype and the anticipation, the struggle and disappointment of the failures, the gathering of your courage to try again... the stamina, the madness some love to call passion? The playing with light, to me, the ultimate high, I don't need anything else. Once the image is there, I'm content, and if it 'inspires' others, releases an emotion, that's wonderful! And I've seen how my photos have 'inspired' many! I'm not stupid to think that everybody is going to like, let alone understand my images, but I can easily live with that, because I do not have that expectation! I, in the first place, have to be happy with it, the quality, the composition, EVERYTHING, it has to be immaculate, I have to stand by it 100% or the outside world will NEVER see it! That goes for my pro AND my free work (what you see here). I wouldn't have it any other way. I hope that you enjoyed my 'rave'? Take care, all the best and above all... enjoy your photography. If the day comes I don't enjoy it anymore... I'll GIVE AWAY all my gear (it's a lot, gathered over the years, please don't hold your breath, heeeee), M, (*_*) For more of my other work visit here: www.indigo2photography.com Please RESPECT this:IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) MORE ON COLOUR... FUN FLOWER WHEELS FOR ICE-CREAM FANS...

MY IMAGES, ONLY FOR SALE DIRECTLY FROM ME! People who are cold prefer warm colors like red and yellow while people who are hot prefer cool colours like blue and green. A few studies have shown that cultural background has a strong influence on colour preference. These studies have shown that people from the same region regardless of race will have the same colour preferences. I'm ALWAYS fascinated by COLOUR! A BIG FAN of RED...

L'ÉVENTAIL ROUGE... I became a lover of red later in life. I took a course on colours years ago, very interesting, a real eye-opener... all very logical! HOW THE COLOR RED AFFECTS US PHYSICALLY: It increases enthusiasm. It stimulates energy and can increase the blood pressure, respiration, heartbeat, and pulse rate. It encourages action and confidence It provides a sense of protection from fears and anxiety. Red stands for Happiness, Celebration and Ceremony! Red is the color most commonly associated with joy and well being. It is the color of celebration and ceremony. A red carpet is often used to welcome distinguished guests. Red is also traditional color of seats in opera houses and theaters. Scarlet academic gowns are worn at by new Doctors of Philosophy at degree ceremonies at Oxford University and other schools. In China, it is considered the color of good fortune and prosperity, and it is the color traditionally worn by brides. In Christian countries, it is the color traditionally worn at Christmas by Santa Claus, because in the 4th century the historic Saint Nicholas was the Greek Christian Bishop of Myra, in modern-day Turkey, and bishops then dressed in red Being creative is not a choice... it is an urge in me. #abfav_films_songs https://youtu.be/PDFWdq2LkI0?list=RDoRpYwCHZ_mM As a result of the extravagant features of the dance, the word fandango is used as a synonym for 'a quarrel', 'a big fuss' or 'a brilliant exploit. I COULD BAKE YOU A SWEET RAINBOW in THESE???

SOME FRIDAY FUN. LOL! Trendy cupcake moulds in paper! GUILTY LITTLE PLEASURES... MACARONS

#ABFAV_FAVOURITE_THINGS_THEME We ALL need them, he? PATH to LOVE…

…can take a lot of ‘meandering’… it is a happy way, with surprises, fun and joy. For Valentine, everything is wrapped with shiny red ribbon. I declare February LOVE, romance and beauty month. LOVE for CHRISTMAS…

from when I was a little girl, I have always loved red ribbon. Often it is easier to pin down why you do not like something. I was wondering why this photo was so appealing to me. Started to analyse… so, the red ribbon, and then, the little bauble separated itself from the rest as all fell on the black velvet, I SAW it! THE photo!!! LOVE, this month people will gather and give. I have a feeling that December can be an ‘emotional’ month, where we ponder over the past year… So now I know why I like it. Happiness all around! CHRISTMAS SPARKLE…

I mentioned I was a 'classicist' for Christmas. I prefer the colours green, red, white... with some gold or silver. I looked up why Red? An early use of red at Christmas were the apples on the paradise tree. They represented the fall of Adam in the plays. Red is also the colour of Holly and many other berries, which is said to represent the blood of Jesus when he died on the cross. Red is also the colour of Bishops robes. These would have been worn by St. Nicholas and then also became Santa's uniform? AAAHHH well, there you go. I just find it festive! Hope you this warms up your day. BERRY BERRY NICE.. SORBUS

From a garden in Flanders. Brought some cuttings given by a friend with a lovely and opulent garden. MAPLECOPTERS…

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ It was September, the month of melancholy, another Summer almost over, Autumn already in the air but not yet visible in nature... Is it going to be a long Winter... With the lovely long evenings? One night we had some gusty winds, earlier this year, a bit thundery, so in our garden, on the grass were hundreds of those, blown off their home, the maple tree... No seed in there yet, they were fresh, so no flying... we'd have to wait for full Autumn. The innocent fun you could have with those twirly thingies, throwing them up, running after them (kept us fit!), guarding and treasuring your 'best' ones! Speak of childhood memories!!! The distinctive fruit are called samaras, "maple keys", "helicopters", "whirlybirds" or "polynoses". I call them ‘MAPLECOPTERS’! These seeds occur in distinctive pairs each containing one seed enclosed in a "nutlet" attached to a flattened wing of fibrous, papery tissue. They are shaped to spin as they fall and to carry the seeds a considerable distance on the wind. People often call them "helicopters" due to the way that they spin as they fall. During World War II, the US Army developed a special air drop supply carrier that could carry up to 65 pounds of supplies and was based on the Maple seed. Seed maturation is usually in a few weeks to six months after flowering, with seed dispersal shortly after maturity. However, one tree can release hundreds of thousands of seeds at a time. Depending on the species, the seeds can be small and green to orange and big with thicker seed pods. The yellow seeds are released individually and almost always without the stems. Some seeds can remain dormant in the soil for several years before germinating. A LEAF OUT OF MY LIFE...

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ I like the analogy, we are here for our one “4 seasons”, to bud, unfurl and grow, in sunshine and rain, in wind and storm, holding on. In light, in darkness, brightness and fog, from fresh green to mature to colourful, missing bits, some scars, by far not “perfect”, ever more interesting and beautiful though, until we gently float down and come to a final rest… No, to me this is not negative, it is realistic, the way it is. Just a thought... OPULENCE… NARCISSUS

Daffodils fighting for the limelight in the studio. For those interested, Daffodils and Narcissus: the two words are synonyms. Narcissus is the Latin or botanical name for all daffodils. OF HALLOWEEN CROSSES and COLOURS… Physalis

We come to the finale of the fruit and nut harvesting! Large papery husks derive from the calyx. The berry inside, also goes by the names Golden Strawberry,Chinese Lantern and Cape gooseberry. Not all Physalis species bear edible fruit. This here is decorative. Any sort of religious symbol might deter a vampire… Have you ever wondered about the origin of Halloween colours? It is the custom of the celebration to use orange and black in decorations and costumes. The colour orange also signifies strength and endurance. We don’t know if that is for the holiday or strength and endurance at the harvest time. Since the Celtics were involved in wars with Julius Caesar, they may have believed orange gave courage to those who wore that colour during battle. As the Celtics are given the most credit for beginning the holiday as the festival of the harvest, a colour of autumn is used. Orange, being the most prevalent autumn tone, is derived from the pumpkin and leaves. In the final confrontation with Dracula, Van Helsing, finding himself in a showdown without any weapons, grabs two nearby candelabras and holds them up in the shape of a cross, which repels the Count. This scene created a visual trope since adopted by many other cinematic slayers: since then, we have seen characters use whatever is at hand from baseball bats and even two of their own fingers—to form an impromptu cross. APRICOT, THE COLOURS of AUTUMN?...

This one was really showing all the gorgeous colours, over yellow and orange... with the warmth of still, the warmth of SUMMER? Fresh apricots are loose-stoned fruit that range in colour from pale green to yellow to flushed orangey pink. When ripe, their flesh is sweet, soft and juicy. The apricot was known in Armenia during ancient times, and has been cultivated there for so long that it is often thought to have originated there. Its scientific name Prunus armeniaca (Armenian plum) derives from that assumption. PEACHY PEACHES…

Donut peaches, LOL Saturn peaches, Prunus persica var. platycarpa, (also known as donut (or doughnut) peaches), are a variety of peach with white flesh and a flattish, round shape. 'Saturn' peaches are smaller and flatter than a regular peach. Their skin is yellow and red, and they are usually less fuzzy than ordinary peaches. The inside of the peach is pale in appearance. They are sweeter than regular peaches] and contain less juice. A personal fave. TRICK or TREAT? MMMMMACARONS...

THOSE GUILTY LITTLE PLEASURES... We ALL need them, he? Above: Venezuelan Chocolate, Vanilla, Raspberry and Passion Fruit. Lead a sweet life! WINTER FRAGRANCES…

So welcome in December, the fragrance of orange, cinnamon and Star anise, then add some pine from the tree, maybe some candle-wax and all set? LOL Star anise is a star-shaped, dark brown pod that contains a pea-size seed in each of its eight segments. Native to China and Vietnam, star anise comes from a small evergreen tree. Its flavour is slightly more bitter than that of regular anise seed. Cinnamon is a spice obtained from the inner bark of several trees from the genus Cinnamomum that is used in both sweet and savoury foods. Cinnamon has been known from remote antiquity. It was imported to Egypt as early as 2000 BC. Cinnamon was so highly prized among ancient nations that it was regarded as a gift fit for monarchs and even for a god: a fine inscription records the gift of cinnamon and cassia to the temple of Apollo at Miletus. Though its source was kept mysterious in the Mediterranean world for centuries by the middlemen, who handled the spice trade, to protect their monopoly as suppliers, cinnamon is native to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Malabar Coast of India, and Burma. The "sweet orange", which is the kind that are most often eaten today, grew first in Asia but now grows in many parts of the world. Oranges are round orange-coloured fruit that grow on a tree which can reach 10 metres (33 ft) high. Orange trees have dark green shiny leaves and small white flowers with five petals. The flowers smell very sweet which attracts many bees. An orange has a tough shiny orange skin. Inside, the fruit is divided into "segments", which have thin tough skins that hold together many little sections with juice inside. There are usually ten segments in an orange, but sometimes there are more. The colour orange takes its name from the fruit. The word "orange" is unusual because it is one of only a few English words that does not rhyme with anything. ZINGING ZINNIA…

To brighten your day. Zinnia is a genus of plants of the sunflower tribe within the daisy family. They are native to scrub and dry grassland in an area stretching from the Southwestern United States to South America, with a centre of diversity in Mexico. Members of the genus are notable for their solitary long-stemmed flowers that come in a variety of bright colours. The genus name honours German botanist Johann Gottfried Zinn (1727–59) There’s not a more vibrant late-summer plant, with a brilliant range of colours and flowers that look as though they’ve been cut from velvet-coated cardboard. Why, on your way home, not buy a bouquet of flowers for your partner? Start the w-e off beautifully and with love? LOL Ranunculus, a whole bouquet, all different! FOR DADS… LET ME COLOUR YOUR DAY… FREESIAS

I was thinking… so today is Father’s Day. Many dads are keen gardeners, then why do we not present them with a lovely bouquet? Why is that so much more for mums? Both visual and fragrant pleasure... Freesia is a genus of 14-16 species of flowering plants in the family Iridaceae, native to Africa. Of the 14 species, 12 are native to Cape Province, South Africa, the remaining two to tropical Africa, one species extending north of the equator to Sudan. The genus was named in honour of Friedrich Heinrich Theodor Freese (1795-1876), German physician. They are herbaceous plants which grow from a corm 1-2.5 cm diameter, which sends up a tuft of narrow leaves 10-30 cm long, and a sparsely branched stem 10-40 cm tall bearing a few leaves and a loose one-sided spike of fragrant narrowly funnel-shaped flowers. THE C in CORNFLOWER…

and CENTAUREA cyanus, commonly known as cornflower or bachelor's button, is an annual flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, native to Europe. The cornflower is considered a beneficial weed and its edible flower can be used for culinary decoration, for example to add colour to salads. Cornflowers have been used and prized historically for their blue pigment. OIL AND VINEGAR…

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ I saw how many round objects there are in our home, so, now that we are back on Winter time, it is dark very early, the weather's gone bad, I've had plenty of time to think and be creative in the studio once more. Glass is one of the most difficult substances to photograph; my challenge is to use the reflections in a positive manner so that they add to the image. I love using different oils and vinegars in the kitchen, so over the years these glass beauties have now become part of a collection, the first was the 'ball' one in front! #abfav_red at £ 19 99 LOL From a series Urban Mix. Walked through the beautiful Edwardian buildings of the market, almost everything from the mundane to the exotic is available in this largest undercover market in the country. At the very heart of Leeds city centre this bustling market was the first home of a humble stall that grew to be Marks and Spencer. This is one of the shops... hairpieces, wigs, for real or fun... I was attracted by all the colours, but also how hair-colour and style changes your features and looks, or is that just me, do they look the same to you? I know about the reflections, but, that's the whole vibe, the bright lights in the high ceilings, hustle and bustle. All ON THE GO…

#ABFAV_FAVOURITE_SPRING_THEME KINGS CROSS STATION LONDON... Springs mean travel/holiday for many, not only the birds that trek South, lol. Sitting on a low wall, waiting on Sunday noon, King’s Cross Station in London, it was stifling hot. Instead of being bored and impatient, I decided to pass the time being 'creative'... I noticed all the people hurrying by and also, especially, that EVERYBODY was lugging bags, lots of bags, of all types, colours and designs. Spotted, striped, floral, classic, coloured. I wondered, what were they all transporting? Can we not go anywhere without our ‘wheeled’ carriers? Often not one but more, backpacks, plastic, leather, designed, handbags, so many. All different, just like the people, their shoes, legs and leg wear! I saw people traveling alone, in pairs, in group, I saw them smile, I saw them laugh, I saw some cry, I saw some depressed and some tired, people of all walks of life. I saw hellos and I saw good-byes... all the emotions ... I became smilingly fascinated and eventually left feeling a great sense of joy because of this series. THEY ARE THE CHEEKY BOYS...

#abfav_multicolour After a photo shoot in the studio, we just thought we'd have some creative and "free" stuff, just to unwind from all the tension. The models were game and later happy with the shots they were given. Something like this, 'fashion' photography is a different shoot altogether, it is ALWAYS important to have a good rapport with your subjects during a session, treat them with calm and respect. Sometimes it is just fun to let models do 'their' thing... Photography is a powerful medium. Too often underestimated, yet it is the perfect recording of our history, forever changing lifestyles, the all important memories... Cameras only the tools of the trade, note I write 'cameras', no distinction, it is my firm conviction that it is the person using the tools that is responsible for the result. Like in everything else, there’s ever changing TREND. You only have to look at the family/school/wedding portrait of 50-20 years ago!!!!!!!! A dynamic portrait like the above, would not have been possible, everything neatly 'all-in', best clothes, from a respectable distance. I like the way it's going, but it's taken some time... PEOPLE OF CAPE TOWN ...

#abfav_multicolour It was our first 'proper' day and we decided to go and explore the center of the city. It was a mild day, the sun was out, yes, 'another beautiful day in paradise' we joked. Wandering and admiring everything, I noticed how colourful it was, and also the people, oh dear... how pale we looked! On Greenmarket Square, you had all the stalls, with all the arty stuff, we both noticed how creative the local artists are, often with minimum resources. You do have those that beg and then you have those that will do ANYTHING to make a living. More about that later! I find 'strolling' very tiring, so we found ourselves a place for some refreshments and a 'break',lol, the cameras never far away and started 'people-watching'. I caught this, does it get any more 'traditional'? A mother and child, African style, no wonder they often have a tight bond later in life. THE COLOURS of CAPE TOWN 1...

#abfav_holidays_theme Bo Kaap, The Cape Malay Quarter Hidden in central Cape Town, just beyond all the hustle and bustle of the town, you will find this little treasure. What is Bo-Kaap? It is a multicultural area, tucked safely into the fold of signal hill. Known for its brightly coloured houses and situated at the foot of Signal Hill, Bo-Kaap is the spiritual home of the Cape’s Muslim community. The Bo-Kaap is one of Cape Town’s most colourful suburbs. Bo-Kaap has a fascinating history. Many of the residents are descendants of slaves from Malaysia, Indonesia and various African countries, who were imported to the Cape of Good Hope by the Dutch during the 16th and 17th centuries. The slaves were known as ‘Cape Malays’ (which is not essentially true as most of the residents are not entirely of Malaysian descent). THE COLOURFUL SEASON…

#abfav_mulicolour Slowly the signs are appearing, the colourful season that is Autumn, is upon us. Each season has its own colour-palette, Spring with the fresh and pastel, Summer with the rich and warm tones, Autumn with russet and more ‘spent’ hues and then Winter, the cool and more stark and dark colours. I love each one for these particular reasons. This was after the rain in Brugge, often you’ll find walls covered with Virginia Creeper (parthenocissus) clinging on. Short-lived amazing colours. LE TEMPS des GERBERAS…

DAY 8 There is an unbelievable choice in everything, it all seems too much? Such abundance. I remember when sellers came to market with their wares, towards the end, if you were late… there was little left, certainly no choice anymore. Now everything seems overstocked and never-ending FULL. More from the market in Brugge. Of COLOURS...

#abfav_multicolour Light and colour can influence how people perceive the area around them. People who are cold prefer warm colous like red and yellow while people who are hot prefer cool colours like blue and green. A few studies have shown that cultural background has a strong influence on colour preference. These studies have shown that people from the same region regardless of race will have the same colour preferences. I'm ALWAYS fascinated by COLOUR! COLOURED TEARS... for a HAPPY MONDAY

My AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ At some point, we had a studio that used to be a ballet school, a great space. At the back were two mighty heavy sliding doors, that opened onto a small back-garden, in the middle of the city, luxury. They were behind our backgrounds, so, often in Summer, it could get extremely hot with all the lights and creativity (LOL), we soon found out that letting in some fresh or cooler air via the doors was not an option, as it was probably the fave 'haunt' of all the cats (=flies) from the neighbourhood. One day it was just too much, so I rushed out and I bought one of those 'anti fly' curtains, we hung it up... AND this is what I saw... Coloured teardrops in the sunlight. Enjoy a colourful day and thanx for visiting, Magda (*_*) For more of my other work or if you want to PURCHASE, visit here: www.indigo2photography.com IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) SPANISH FISHING NETWORK...

Wherever we go in the world, it is especially the sea that attracts us most. We're always drawn to the harbour, not to admire the big luxury yachts, no, the fishing harbour, the working boats, the people, the different methods they use. The netting depends obviously on the type of catch they fish for. The majority of rigged nets are made to order, allowing fishermen to have exactly the right net for their needs. Here, in England and the North, the size of the mesh is often bigger than what we saw here in Spain. I fell in love with this scene when I saw it! The colours, aahh, everything! Of course I took a whole selection, this is only one of them… thanx for all your words, time, comments and faves. Very much appreciated. AB FAV 2 for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ Series: METAPHOR OF LIFE, of knots and ropes and hooks. I wrote this blog about it: http://magdaindigo.blogspot.co.uk/2009_04_01_archive.html So, back from the Continent, we reinforced the bonds with family ... with old friends and new friends... Yes, the feeling good! And this image of some mended nets on board of a boat in the harbour in Ostend/ Flanders is the perfect illustration of how I feel and what I mean. SUMMERTIME BLUES… THE NET

#abfav_summer_theme Passing an overcrowded shop with everything displayed outside, I saw this blue butterfly-net sticking out above the rest. I wanted to photograph it against the sky so had to go down, and bend and crouch and kneel to get the angle I wanted. People apparently were staring in disbelief, but when I’m composing an image, I forget about everything else! My challenge was to photograph blue on blue, I love to use the light to bring out the gossamer forms. It sings of sun and fun and wind and freedom and holiday, that small net high up catching the sun and the wind and the light and my eye… one of my personal favourites from the trip. DONE FOR THE DAY...

#abfav_multicolour The sun was going down still a lovely afterglow, the people driving home still smiling after a lovely day, the lights came on to work for the night, shops and attractions were closing down grateful for a well-earned rest, DONE FOR THE DAY... Photographically an interesting time, this is a pond on the North Beach, in Bridlington, where kids can ride little boats, the promenade light reflecting in the still water. BEACHED CATS…

#abfav_summer_theme Could you resist photographing such a colourful feast to the eyes? Hobie Cats are small racing catamarans used for racing and personal use. Compared to other small sailboats, Hobie Cats are appealing because they offer high performance at a relatively low cost. It seems Fuerteventura seems to be the ideal place for this. RAN OUT OF RED PAINT???

FROM THE URBAN SERIES: Dublin/ Temple Bar. Next to 'The Wall of Fame', was this building, I liked the symmetry, also the 'creative colours' in which it was painted... it just cracked me up when I saw that, at some point... they must have run out of red paint... and that seemed like some time ago... still waiting for the order of the same paint colour? #abfav_shadows_silhouettes_theme When two photographers are at the same scene... two different views! Pickering, North-Yorkshire... Most of the passengers may not realise how reliant upon volunteers the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is. With the magnificent steam engines, beautiful rural stations and smartly uniformed staff, a visit to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is like taking a step back in time. From the smoke and steam pouring from the engines to the cosy wood-panelled carriages and friendly conductor service, the railway is both lovingly preserved and charmingly authentic. SPANISH TILES…

#abfav_multicolour The Spanish love their glazed colourful tiles and use them on floors, on walls, inside and outside, made with great Artistry and creativity, they liven up the place and are part of the architecture. These were 4 flights of stairs, a real eye-teaser. Standing in front of it, it looked like a tall wall, I asked a model to go and sit on the first landing, free and comfortable, not posed. I have it with all the steps, but the place was surrounded by palm trees, it was impossible to get a picture without shadow, this was over the midday= the least, so I decided to go for a closer comp. RIEN NE VA PLUS…

#abfav_multicolour At the CASINO, I was like a kid in a toy-shop for the first time. I couldn't believe my eyes, they had many games I'd never seen, I thought it was just about the classic stuff, like black jack, baccarat, roulette. Aaachhh, I've lead such a sheltered life!!! HA. I asked what this was for, the glass covering the dice was hermetically closed, no more bets, the copper cloche was put over it, electronically the dice were 'shaken' (not stirred!), the glass dome uncovered and people could see how their luck had fallen... I could not resist taking a photo of it. We were in the Casino, during closing time, the day, to take photos for their publicity. These that you see, just 'my bit on the side', free stuff... ARE YOU GOING TO SCARBOROUGH FAIR...

#abfav_holidays_theme 1. About the song: the arrangement made famous by Simon and Garfunkel's Scarborough Fair/Canticle originated in the late 19th century. Paul Simon learned it in 1965 in London from Martin Carthy and set it in counterpoint with Canticle, a reworking of Simon's 1963 song The Side Of a Hill with new, anti-war lyrics. It was the title track of the 1966 album Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, and was released as a single after featuring on the soundtrack to The Graduate in 1968. 2. About the Fair: during late medieval times the seaside resort of Scarborough was an important venue for tradesmen from all over England. It was host to a huge forty-five day trading event, starting August 15, which was exceptionally long for a fair in those times. People from all over England, and even some from the continent, came to Scarborough to engage in business. The traditional 'Scarborough Fair' no longer exists but a number of low key celebrations take place every September to mark the original event. This is the children's Fair at the foot of Scarborough Castle Hill, in the evening light, next to the harbour. Scarborough, one of our favourite haunts. RED SKY AT NIGHT...

#abfav_shadows_silhouettes_theme CONSTANTINE BAY, Cornwall. This is the first part of the weather-lore rhyme: Red sky at night; shepherd's delight, Red sky in the morning; shepherd's warning... The 'red sky at night' rhyme is more than an old wives' tale though and has some meteorological foundation - in England at least. Sometimes the phrase involves sailors rather than shepherds - both have a more than usual interest in the weather! The end of a beautiful day, saturated with fresh air, warm sun, visual joy and lots of good photography. We had to drive fast from Padstow to get the sun in the right place, we were 'the original sunset-chasers', tee hee. We made it in time, of course I have the 'by the second' disappearance of the sun into the sea, however it was the other beauty surrounding it that interested me most! Like this afterglow, that panoply of stunning colours. I hadn't bothered to bring my tripod, just found myself a spot to sit, rested my elbows on my knees and held my breath... OSCAR WILDE…

#abfav_holidays_theme Oscar Wilde (1854 – 1900) was an Irish playwright, novelist, essayist and poet. After writing in different forms throughout the 1880s, he became one of London's most popular playwrights in the early 1890s. He is remembered for his epigrams, his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, his plays, as well as the circumstances of his imprisonment and early death. Known for his biting wit, flamboyant dress and glittering conversation, Wilde became one of the best-known personalities of his day. I love his quips, a few here: Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much. It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious. Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go. What is a cynic? A man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. True friends stab you in the front. There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about. Genius is born—not paid. The old believe everything, the middle-aged suspect everything, the young know everything. At the turn of the 1890s, he refined his ideas about the supremacy of art in a series of dialogues and essays, and incorporated themes of decadence, duplicity, and beauty into his only novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray (1890). Wilde produced four society comedies in the early 1890s, which made him one of the most successful playwrights of late Victorian London. At the height of his fame and success, The Importance of Being Earnest (1895) was being performed in London. English sculptor Danny Osborne was commissioned by the Guinness Ireland Group to create a statue commemorating Oscar Wilde, which was unveiled in 1997, by Wilde's grandson Merlin Holland. Since marble alone was deemed inadequate, the statue was formed from different coloured stones from three continents. The torso is of green nephrite jade from British Columbia, Canada, and pink thulite from Norway. The legs are of Norwegian Blue Pearl granite with the shoes being black Indian charnockite and finished with bronze shoelace tips.[5] The statue also wears a Trinity College tie made from glazed porcelain, and three rings – Wilde's wedding ring and two scarabs, one for good luck, the other for bad luck. The statue is mounted with Wilde reclining on a large quartz boulder obtained by Osborne himself from the Wicklow Mountains. When the statue was unveiled in 1997, it was the first statue commemorating Wilde since his death 97 years earlier. It received near unanimous praise for the materials used and for its location near his childhood home at 1, Merrion Square. In 2010, the porcelain head of Wilde had to be replaced because cracks were forming on it. The porcelain head was replaced by a new one made of white jadeite. ARTISTS’ SHOES…

#abfav_2_together_theme I always say: you are never ‘creative’ just in one area, often in many, and us artists often feel we have to ‘express’ ourselves in other ways! LOL Here, a Belgian musician, singer, song-writer, Willemsson and artist Jook in Oostende. Both are on Facebook! A portrait of a couple, united in many ways, divided in their creativity, he is all about music, she is a Neo-expressionism surrealism doodle-artist. This was a fun shoot, creatives together… With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments, M, (* _ *) For more of my other work or if you want to PURCHASE (ONLY PLACE TO BUY!), visit here: www.indigo2photography.com IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) I'M SEXY AND I KNOW IT...

#ABFAV_FAVOURITE_STREET_ACTIVITY_THEME AAAHHHH THE FUN I have! Many people are 'dressed' the part!!! I could not resist taking a quick shot of this scene, one gent waiting for his pals... his boots had seen ACTION and the red socks were sexy and he knew it!!!!!!! Taken in beautiful Grassington. For those interested: Limestone hills and dry-stone walls in the west of the Yorkshire Dales. This part of the national park is popular with walkers due to the presence of the Yorkshire three peaks. In 1954 an area of 1,770 square kilometres (680 sq mi) was designated the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Most of the National Park is in North Yorkshire, though part lies within Cumbria. However, the whole park lies within the historic boundaries of Yorkshire, divided between the North Riding and the West Riding. The park is 50 miles (80 km) north east of Manchester; Leeds and Bradford lie to the south, while Kendal is to the west and Darlington to the east. The area has a large collection of activities for visitors. For example, many people come to the Dales for walking. The National Park is crossed by several long-distance routes including the Pennine Way, the Dales Way, the Coast to Coast Path and the latest national trail of the Pennine Bridleway. WONDERFUL WORLD? CAN BE!

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ My son had found this seat amongst the red Begonias, his little boy ran towards him, picked up one of the fallen flowers and offered it to his dad, a very tender moment... Not something you can set-up! Lead and enjoy a good life, do and say things that enrich... and more than ever, do not forget to tell the people close to you, how much you love them! A PIKEMAN…

DAY 7 I couldn't help myself, I just HAD to take some portraits of these characters! Only veteran members of the HAC who have had proven efficient service in the HAC’s Territorial Army regiment are eligible to join the Company of Pikemen & Musketeers. All join in the lowest rank, regardless of any previous military rank held. Members must be fit enough to competently complete the march of the Lord Mayor’s Show. Military medals and insignia are permitted to be worn. The seniority of officers and non-commissioned officers is signified by the amount of lace worn on collars and cuffs; the more lace the more senior the rank. Members are unpaid but give freely of their own time for drill practice and rehearsals as well as the parades and guards themselves. All make a significant contribution towards the cost of their own uniform and are expected to clean and look after their armour, muskets and other kit to maintain the highest standards of turnout for the many prestigious occasions they parade for. WITH PANACHE…

DAY 7 The musketeers wear their plumed black felt hats with great panache! Waiting, while the royalty enters the arena, lol, they stand holding the pikes. The latter would originally have been 18 feet long but for reasons of practicality 12-foot pikes are used today. THE MUSKETEER…

DAY 7 A little series of The Company of Pikemen & Musketeers parading in Brugge, an occasion attended by the sister of the Belgian king, in honour of their 360th anniversary. Musketeers wear a buff sur-coat and wide-brimmed felt hat. They are armed with a match-lock musket and wear a leather cross belt, from which are suspended 12 wooden powder flasks known as apostles. A musketeer (French: mousquetaire) was a type of soldier equipped with a musket. Musketeers were an important part of early modern armies, particularly in Europe and the west, as they normally comprised the majority of their infantry. The musketeer was a precursor to the rifleman’s. The iconic "Redcoat" of the British Empire was the staple unit in the British armies that created the largest empire in history. The British infantryman was well trained by the standards of the time, training with live ammunition. A fully trained redcoat could fire four times a minute. GOLD ABOVE THE LOCH…

#abfav_autumn We discover Loch Lubnaig, a nice spot for a break, in between two showers, we are to get a lot of images. Loch Lubnaig is a small freshwater loch near Callander in the Stirling council area, Scottish Highlands. It lies in the former county of Perthshire. It is part of the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. It is around 5 km long, and has depths of up to 44.5 metres. The loch nestles in the space between Ben Ledi and Ben Vorlich. Fed by the River Balvaig from the north and drained by the Garbh Uisge to the south, Loch Lubnaig offers fishing from the shore while canoes can be rented at the north end. Alternatively, two car parking areas on the east shore offer perfect, albeit sometimes busy, canoe launching points. A golden Autumn branch decorates my view. Hope that this will make you smile and have a wonderful day and thanks for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*) For more of my other work or if you want to PURCHASE (ONLY PLACE TO BUY!), VIEW THE NEW PORTFOLIOS AND LATEST NEWS : www.indigo2photography.com Please do not use this image on websites, blogs or any other media without my explicit permission. © All rights reserved

EARTH, WIND and FIRE…

The earth was planted with young saplings, the wind played on Loch TAY, the Fire was glowing in the colours of the ‘weeds’… This is how it came out of my camera! THE ENCHANTED WOOD…

#abfav_autumn To my grandchildren, on a visit from the Continent, this was an enchanting and enchanted wood! They ran through the rustling carpet, collected coloured leaves, conkers and chestnuts, pine-cones, saw the squirrels, all the things that kids love to do in Autumn. Have a super day, I know I will, and thanks for your comments, M, (*_*) For more of my other work or if you want to PURCHASE (ONLY PLACE TO BUY MY IMAGES!), VIEW THE NEW PORTFOLIOS AND LATEST NEWS HERE on our website: www.indigo2photography.com IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) LAST CHRISTMAS…

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ our breakfast on that special morning, Christmas Day, when all is silent in our neighbourhood… It is just the two of us. Again, we have no family coming over as we are celebrating in the warmth of our own home. Families are dispersed nowadays, ooohhh I know some "envy" us and wished their family did not descend on them? LOL. I think it is human nature to want what you cannot have and not want what you have? I can tell you that it is bittersweet, the longing in your heart can hurt and telephone becomes a sad substitute for hugs and kisses. But, hey, let's rejoice and look forward to the future, some people have far less, I will try and sprinkle a bit of joy during those days. Tell me if you are lonely? May ALL your wishes come true! This year the table decorations are completely different, haven’t photographed it yet! BLUE, SO BLUE… Cornflower

Graphic portrait of Cornflowers in different stages. And, I just learned that Cornflower are often the reference for an ideal sapphire blue. The cornflower is considered a beneficial weed and its edible flower can be used for culinary decoration, for example to add colour to salads. Cornflowers have been used and prized historically for their blue pigment. Cornflowers are often used as an ingredient in some tea blends and herbal teas and is famous in the Lady Grey blend of Twinings.
