Les Triplettes de Cyclamen

LES TRIPLETTES I 'borrowed' the title from French filmmaker Sylvain Chomet, who directed the animated (and nominated) feature film Les Triplettes de Belleville. They look quite coy? FLOWERS MY MOTHER LOVED: CYCLAMEN…

She always had some on the kitchen windowsill. SILK WHITE CYCLAMENS This is only a small plant, but on the windowsill in my kitchen, it seems to thrive in the Northern light, these beauties seem to fight for the light. Cyclamen are native to the Mediterranean region from Spain east to Iran, and also in northeast Africa south to Somalia. THE YELLOWING LEAF… CYCLAMEN

DO YOU SEE RED?

In our kitchen, on the windowsill, I have this one brightening the day! Red bucket with a red mini Cyclamen, attracting my attention, the proud blooms were just 'begging' to be photographed... LOL. This is one of my favourite compositions. More to follow (eventually...) Thanx for your comments and time, M, (*_*) For more of my other work visit here: www.indigo2photography.co.uk

CIRCLES, FLOWERS and LIGHT...

I love objects that are 'different', like this red vase. The flowers are normally arranged in the opening at the top, but here I used it for the shape and colour and as a prop for the blooming cyclamen, set up with the dramatic light that I like so much. The flowers were obstreperous, but it turned out fine, love the one peeping from the right. View On proper Black Giving my flowers SOUL? FINESSE… Cyclamen

There is a whole new vocabulary being developed now, through trends, youth, social media and evolving technology. Finesse is one such new word and it means: To perfect or smooth things out, both visually and emotionally. Also when someone carries themselves with extreme elegance and style. The cyclamen commonly sold by florists is Cyclamen persicum, which is frost-tender. Selected cyclamen cultivars can have white, bright pink, red or purple flowers. While flowering, florists' cyclamens should be kept below 20 °C (68 °F), with the night time temperatures preferably between 6.5 °C to 15 °C (44 °F to 59 °F). Temperatures above 20 °C (68 °F) may induce the plant to go dormant. I tried a ‘different’ composition. Cyclamen are native to the Mediterranean region from Spain east to Iran, and also in northeast Africa south to Somalia. TALKING HEADS...

Alan Bennett (born 9 May 1934) is an English author, actor, humorist and playwright. Many of Bennett's characters are unfortunate and downtrodden, or meek and overlooked, just like my flowers... Life has brought them to an impasse, or else passed them by altogether. In many cases they have met with disappointment in the realm of sex and intimate relationships, largely through tentativeness and a failure to connect with others. Talking Heads was a series of monologues for television which were later performed at the Comedy Theatre in London in 1992. This was a sextet of poignantly comic pieces, each of which depicted several stages in the character's decline from an initial state of denial or ignorance of their predicament, through a slow realization of the hopelessness of their situation, and progressing to a bleak or ambiguous conclusion. A second set of six Talking Heads pieces followed a decade later. Talking Heads was also an American rock band formed in 1974 in New York City and active until 1991. The band comprised David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth and Jerry Harrison. They have a song called: Nothing but flowers... The name Cyclamen is presumed to come from Greek 'kyclos', a circle referring to the round tubers, or leaves. Lovely inverted flowers rise out of fantastically patterned rounded or heart-shaped leaves. Some of the patterns, particularly the silver leaved varieties are exquisite and can truly be described as a wonder of nature. From the family Primulaceae, they come in beautiful colours from white, pink, purple, red and combinations of these. Cyclamen like the cool; the smaller the leaves, the cooler they can stand it. They are blooming now on my windowsill! Seem t like it there! The tubers are regarded as the favourite food for pigs in the South of France, Sicily and Italy, hence a rather uncommon common name Sowbread. Cyclamen are poisonous; they have been used medicinally as a powerful purgative, but their toxicity makes this risky.

When we have only love When we have only love To share On the day of the great journey That is our great love When we have only love, My love, you and me, So that each hour and each day Burst with joy. When we have only love To live our promises With no other resource Than always believing When we have only love To furnish with wonders And cover with sunlight The suburbs' ugliness When we have only love As a single reason As a single song And single relief When we have only love To provide, in the morning, The poor and the highwayman With velvet coats When we have only love To offer as a prayer To the earth's pains, As a simple troubadour When we have only love To offer to those Whose sole struggle Is to look for daylight When we have only love To show the way And change the course of fate At every crossroad When we have only love To talk to guns And just a song To convince a drum So, having nothing But the strength to love, We will have in our hands, My friend, the whole world Two Cyclamen, and what I ‘see’ in it? When we only have love… Cyclamen are native to the Mediterranean region from Spain east to Iran, and also in northeast Africa south to Somalia. FOR MAMAS AND PAPAS ALL OVER THE WORLD!

Frilled-cyclamen with bud... or is it 'THRILLED'?

"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom." said Marcel Proust.

I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen!
This Cyclamen was watching over her/his bud...?
This is NOT a crop, but a proper new composition in camera.

For years I 'experimented' in the studio, to get that Flemish painter's light?
Well, I was born in Flanders, it must be in my blood? LOL.

VARIATION on A THEME, CYCLAMEN...

Ordinarily, flowerbaskets are round and for hanging up... Gathered all the cyclamens in one basket, I decided to photograph the whole scene instead of an 'isolated' few (which later I could not resist doing anyway, phaaahhh). I just love those colours... SILK WHITE CYCLAMEN…

This is only a small plant, but on the windowsill in my kitchen, it seems to thrive in the Northern light, these beauties seem to fight for the light. Cyclamen are native to the Mediterranean region from Spain east to Iran, and also in northeast Africa south to Somalia. I love the subtle tones, all the varied tonalities, that give the flower/petals/stems their texture, depth and form, their delectable shapes accentuated, extracted and emphasised without the colour. GYMNOPEDIE… Cyclamen

https://youtu.be/S-Xm7s9eGxU The word was in a musical dictionary Eric Satie had at home, and the given definition was “An event at a greek festival wherein maidens danced in the nude.” Most of my images are made under the influence… of music! I am now working on a new project. A book called THE MONOCHROMES. It feels like I have been ‘neglecting’ my black and white photography, which I still love so very much.
