I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen! Dwarf daffodils,a handful of narcissi with intoxicating fragrance, the stems, bound with a ribbon, finished with a bow... in full glory, looks like the bouquet is saying, arms outstretched: Me Voilà Song:Bryan Adams ... Nous voilà, et tout commence, j'attend depuis longtemps ce jour de chance, oui! nous voilà, toujours ensemble, ici sur la terre qui nous ressemble...oh... ohhh... me voilà oh me voilà, oh me voilà à tes côtés, oh me voilà et tout à coup, le monde est transformé Me voilà ohhh, me voilà je resterai, rien ne pourra m'empêcher, oh me voilà je suis là... Tazetta Daffodils soleil d'or, yellow flowers with small orange rounded cups... These bunch-flowered Narcissi have up to 20 or more flowers arising from each flower stem and the crown being much less than half as long as the tepals, plus the crown isn't wrinkled or "crisped." When the buds first open, as you can see, the petals and the cups are a lemon yellow... Giving my flowers SOUL? THE GIFT of BEAUTY... DAFFODILS

For those interested, Daffodils and Narcissus: the two words are synonyms. Narcissus is the Latin or botanical name for all daffodils. Daffodil is the common name for all members of the genus Narcissus. I have chosen a handful of narcissi mainly for their intoxicating fragrance. Tazetta Daffodils soleil d'or, yellow flowers with small orange rounded cups... These bunch-flowered Narcissi have up to 20 or more flowers arising from each flower stem and the crown being much less than half as long as the tepals, plus the crown isn't wrinkled or "crisped." When the buds first open, as you can see, the petals and the cups are a lemon yellow... later they turn orange! Dwarf daffodils, the stems, bound with a ribbon, finished with a bow... in full glory Wishing you a bright day and thanx, M, (*_*) For more of my other work or if you want to PURCHASE (ONLY PLACE TO BUY MY IMAGES!), VIEW THE NEW PORTFOLIOS AND LATEST NEWS HERE on our website: www.indigo2photography.co.uk IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) OF ORANGE CUPS and YELLOW FROCKS...

MY IMAGES ARE FOR SALE ONLY FROM ME, DIRECTLY, see below! March is now fast approaching! I could not resist photographing those orange and yellow mini trumpets, challenging as they were! Overall, I think it sends such a strong sign of hope, Spring is in the air, the Earth is moving again. The daffodil serves as the national flower of Wales. One species, Narcissus obvallaris, grows only in a small area around Tenby. In Wales it is traditional to wear a daffodil on Saint David's Day (March 1). The flower is a common decoration flower during Chinese New Year. March 1: The Sharp Days This was considered the first day of the year in Venice and in Russia until the fourteenth century. It was also the first day of the Ottoman financial year. The Greeks say that good weather begins on March 1st. Supposedly, a thread left out overnight on a rosebush, then tied around the wrist or big toe will protect the wearer and is worn until Easter Day. St John Chrysostom complained of this custom (see March 22) and that of tying bells on children to protect them. In the Dodecanese and elsewhere, children go around with the effigy of a swallow singing a song in honor of the bird and the fine weather it brings and asking for food offerings. This custom derives from ancient Rhodes. The first three days of March are called Sharp Days: One should not wash clothes (for they will wear out), chop wood (or it will rot) or bathe (for one's hair will fall out). March 1 Baba Marta’s Day Before the first day of March in Bulgaria, people give each other martenitsas (or martenkas), red and white wool tassels, sometimes with a gold or silver coin attached. William Wordsworth's short poem "I wandered lonely as a cloud" has often become linked in the popular mind with the daffodils which form its main image. Various Cancer Societies around the world use the Daffodil as fundraising symbol. "Daffodil Days" are organised to raise funds by offering the flowers in return for a donation. I BOUGHT THIS POT OF SPRING AND BROUGHT SOME SUNSHINE INTO OUR HOME.

Tête à Tête is one of the most popular dwarf daffodils, standing at only 15cm (6in) high. They flower in profuse pairs facing one another in a most charming fashion. AAAhh, that bright cheery yellow... quickening our heartbeats and lightening our steps, how they can fool us into thinking Spring is close... I DON'T MIND! Comp in camera and the dramatic (mostly bottom) light that I like so much! Giving my flowers SOUL? PHOENIX... DAFFODILS

I passionately hate the idea of being with it, I think an artist has always to be out of step with his time. - Orson Welles Every year, the same bulbs, after their Winter-sleep, burst open and produce those lovely fresh flowers again and again, like a Phoenix... I had some fun with them and their leaves...and the light... The Phoenix has long been presented as a symbol of rebirth, immortality, and renewal. The Belgian € 10 silver coin, commemorating sixty years of peace, depicts the Phoenix as a representation of a new Europe, post 1945. The capital of Arizona was so named as it was built on the ruins of the Hohokam civilization that had existed on the site centuries before. Giving my flowers SOUL? THREE CHEERS… DAFFODILS

I'm in full communication with the flowers again, they talk... I listen, with my eyes. It is said that: Art is Expression of the imagination............ Tete-a-tete is one of the most popular dwarf daffodils. Standing at only 15cm (6in) high. Available in the shops from now on to brighten up a room and enthral us with a slight fragrance of Spring. Like Phoenixes, they stand, erect. Every year, the same bulbs, after their Winter-sleep, burst open and produce those lovely fresh flowers again and again, like a Phoenix... The Phoenix has long been presented as a symbol of rebirth, immortality, and renewal. The Belgian Euro 10 silver coin, commemorating sixty years of peace, depicts the Phoenix as a representation of a new Europe, post 1945. LE SACRE DU PRINTEMPS...

The Rite of Spring, commonly referred to by its original French title, Le Sacre du Printemps, is a ballet with music by the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, original choreography by Nijinsky, under impresario Serge Diaghilev. The music is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential, and most reproduced compositions in history. These are some of the first flowers in our garden... Giving my flowers SOUL? ODE TO JOY CHORUS... BEETHOVEN, Symphony No. 9

ODE TO JOY CHORUS... BEETHOVEN, Symphony No. 9 MY IMAGES ARE FOR SALE ONLY FROM ME, DIRECTLY, see below! BEETHOVEN Symphony No. 9, ODE TO JOY, Ode an Die Freude For the music lovers, listen here The words are sung during the final movement, they were taken from the "Ode to Joy", a poem written by Friedrich Schiller in 1785 and revised in 1803, with additions made by the composer. Today, it stands as one of the most played symphonies in the world. This was what these flowers triggered in me when I took this photo... Winter is stubborn here, now and then a few moments of Spring fragrance in the air... then it is gone again. But, the earth is moving, breaking the cold crust, green tips are showing, a few daring Snowdrops are out, some shrubs show tender green... yes, soon "Ode to Spring", like this image. INTERLACED...

MY IMAGES ARE FOR SALE ONLY FROM ME, DIRECTLY, see below! In the visual arts, interlace is a decorative element found in medieval art. In interlace, bands or portions of other motifs are looped, braided, and knotted in complex geometric patterns, often to fill a space. Interlacing is common in Islamic art and in the Migration period art of Northern Europe, especially in the Insular art of the British Isles and Norse art of the Early Middle Ages. Winter is stubborn here, not letting Spring in, they seem interlaced, in our garden, some of the snow that fell 1 1/2 weeks ago still lies unmelted... now and then a few moments of Spring fragrance in the air... then it is gone again. But, the earth is moving, breaking the cold crust, green tips are showing, a few daring Daffodils are out IN BUD... some shrubs show tender green... holding, waiting for more clement temps. These are Spring flowers from bulbs, Yellow pointed Tulips and Blue Hyacinths a difficult colour to photograph... INTERLACED! Giving my flowers SOUL? Yeah, they were all "YELLOW"...

Look at the stars, Look how they shine for you, And everything you do, Yeah, they were all yellow. I came along, I wrote a song for you, And all the things you do, And it was called "Yellow". So then I took my turn, Oh what a thing to have done, And it was all "Yellow." Your skin, Oh yeah your skin and bones, Turn into something beautiful, You know, you know I love you so, You know I love you so. I swam across, I jumped across for you, Oh what a thing to do. Cos you were all "Yellow", I drew a line, I drew a line for you, Oh what a thing to do, And it was all "Yellow." Your skin, Oh yeah your skin and bones, Turn into something beautiful, And you know, For you I'd bleed myself dry, For you I'd bleed myself dry. It's true, Look how they shine for you, Look how they shine for you, Look how they shine for, Look how they shine for you, Look how they shine for you, Look how they shine. LIVING ART NOUVEAU, the yellow tulips

Art Nouveau is a decorative style in the visual arts, interior design, and architecture that flourished from 1890 to 1910. It is characterized by organic, sinuous patterns and ornamentations based usually on twisting plant forms. Here I 'shaped' them in a circle... It is not only the shapes of the flowers that are inspiring, one can be creative with different shapes you design them in and they take on a whole new meaning? A circle is a simple shape of Euclidean geometry consisting of those points in a plane which are equidistant from a given point called the center. A circle as a metaphor and structure for defining a system of communication and interaction... Inner-circles, outer-circles... It seems to me that everything comes in 'circles'... It was Spring once more... Just a meditative day! OSTRACISED...Tulips

PLEASE READ THIS: MY PHOTOS ARE ONLY FOR SALE DIRECTLY FROM ME, VIA THE WEBSITE! This one tulip fell out separately from the bunch, the others stayed together. I had the title before the photo was made and I thought it was quite an interesting topic? Delved into it and found it interesting. It means exclusion from social acceptance, privileges, friendship, etc. where most of us want to belong? Ostracism can be a challenge,it affects one on four basic human needs: belonging, control, self-esteem, and meaningful existence. It dramatically raises anxiety levels and causes depression and despondency. Physical pain often accompanies severe ostracism, since the part of the brain handling pain management is activated. Ostracised people feel isolated and lonely. The depth and the gravity of the symptoms are often not understood, the pain of people experiencing ostracism gets minimized. Giving my flowers SOUL? THE BEAUTY WITHIN...

Double open tulip, again in the studio with flags and cutters, hope you like the result of how I saw it...
We always have a smaller studio in our home, in between things there is time for some of my favourite photography, I love playing with the light,...
Went to the 'end of the market' for a cheap deal on flowers (my props), 6 bunches for £ 2, chose from whatever is left. I was fortunate, Irises, Hyacinths, Tulips, Tiger Lilies, what a delight, they perfume our whole house again!
This is the first flower image of many!
A close-up of a lemon yellow tulip of the double variety with enormous beauty.
With the center petals it shows us it's secret beauty...

LIVING ART NOUVEAU…the yellow tulips

Art Nouveau is a decorative style in the visual arts, interior design, and architecture that flourished from 1890 to 1910. It is characterised by organic, sinuous patterns and ornamentations based usually on twisting plant forms. For MOTHER’S DAY… TULIPS

Mother's day... Being a parent... not easy! Neither books nor advice can help you, every child is different... You do your best, often not good enough, that's all you can do... I raised 3 sons from babies to men, always taking such care, trying to protect them, teach them, be a good example... These are some of the lyrics from the song (Samba) It Would Be So Nice, by Astrud Gilberto, which I think are appropriate for being a mother, works both ways: Someone to hold me tight That would be very nice Someone to love me right That would be very nice Someone to understand Each little dream in me Someone to take my hand And be a team with me... My addition, let them free to fly when it is their time... Have a good one, from one mum to another... Happy Mother's day, hope they'll remember you well and not just today but EVERY day, thanks for your visit, M, (*_*) For more of my other work visit here: www.indigo2photography.com IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) BRIGHT YELLOW for SPRING, FORSYTHIA…

So iconic in early Spring. Forsythia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Oleaceae (olive family). TAKE A BOW… LABURNUM

Laburnum (also called Golden Chain, or Golden Rain) is a small tree with yellow pea-flowers in pendulous racemes 10-30 cm (4-12 in) long in spring, which makes them very popular in gardens. even smaller ones. Laburnum has historically been used for cabinetmaking and inlay, as well as for musical instruments. In addition to such wind instruments as recorders and flutes, it was a popular wood for Great Highland bagpipes. All parts of the plant are poisonous and can be lethal if consumed in excess! I was intrigued by the shape of these beauties and again could not resist cutting one to photograph in 'my way' in the studio, it seems to have a 'Victorian' feel about it? PENDING… HONEYSUCKLE

FROM OUR GARDEN Honeysuckles (Lonicera) are arching shrubs or twining bines in the family Caprifoliaceae, native to the Northern Hemisphere. Approximately 180 species of honeysuckle have been identified. About 100 of these species can be found in China and approximately 20 native species have been identified in Europe, 20 in India, and 20 in North America. Hummingbirds are attracted to the flowers on some of these plants. Honeysuckle gets its name because edible sweet nectar can be sucked from the flowers. The name Lonicera stems from Adam Lonicer, a Renaissance botanist. LIKE A SHOOTING STAR, Aquilegia.

Aquilegia chrysantha 'Yellow Queen'. This columbine cultivar is perennial that features large, upward facing, fragrant, bright yellow flowers with long, outward curving spurs. Flowers grow on a long stem above the leaves and have five pointed yellow sepals and five yellow petals with long spurs projecting backwards between the sepals. At the center of the flower are many yellow stamens. Aquilegia comes from the Latin word for eagle in reference to the flower's five spurs which purportedly resemble an eagle's talon. CURTAIN CALL… Alstroemeria

I love my images to be crisp and sharp, so that you can see all the beautiful detail. I am a photographer of a dying breed? Proper photography? No scratching, no filters, no messing? Just the art and skill of the medium? However I also like playing with dof now and then... it depends what the flowers 'tell me', LOL! Promise, I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen! Each flower seems to have a different 'personality' which I'm trying to capture. SUNRISE… Dahlia

Dahlia is a genus of bushy, tuberous, perennial plants native to Mexico, Central America, and Colombia. There are at least 36 species of dahlia. Dahlia hybrids are commonly grown as garden plants. The Aztecs gathered and cultivated the dahlia for food, ceremonies, as well as decorative purposes, and the long woody stem of one variety was used for small pipes. The dahlia is named after Swedish 18th-century botanist Anders Dahl. thanks for your time and comments, greatly appreciated, M, (*_*) For more of my other work or if you want to PURCHASE (ONLY PLACE TO BUY!), VIEW THE NEW PORTFOLIOS AND LATEST NEWS : www.indigo2photography.co.uk IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) POPPIES…

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ Iceland Poppies,I love them, these are from my garden. The petals are quite sheer, and very tender, indeed like butterfly wings. Their colours so vibrant, raindrops clinging on, yes, they were thrashed about by strong winds, a little damaged. The colourful poppy, with tissue-paper petals on thin hairy, wiry stems Cultivars come in shades of yellow, orange, salmon, rose, pink, cream and white as well as bi-coloured varieties. Papaver nudicaule, the Iceland poppy also called Arctic poppy, is a boreal flowering plant. THE LIFE CYCLE of A DANDELION...

#abfav_favourite_spring_theme Also SPRING! I could ALSO have titled it: The Beautiful, The Ugly, The Soft and the Bald? LOL. I am doing another one of my 'FLOWER-STUDIES'. This time on the humble Dandelion. Taraxacum, the common name is dandelion (from French dent-de-lion, meaning "lion's tooth"). After flowering is finished, the dandelion flower head dries out for a day or two... The dried petals and stamens drop off, the bracts reflex (curve backwards), and the parachute ball opens into a full sphere. Finally, the seed-bearing parachutes expand and lift out of it. The parachute drops off the achene when it strikes an obstacle. After the seed is released, the parachutes lose their feathered structure and take on a fuzzy, cotton-like appearance, often called "dandelion snow". All of this happens in the time-span of 2 days! Another thing I love about being a photographer, you start looking in a 'different' way? Enjoy and make the BEST of every day! IT'S NOT EASY BEING YELLOW... The Humble Dandelion.

MY IMAGES ARE FOR SALE ONLY FROM ME, DIRECTLY, see below! Another one of my 'FLOWER-STUDIES'. Dandelions are once again sprouting up all over, prompting the city,lawn-care specialists and amateur gardeners alike to once more declare war on the broad leaf weed. A dandelion is really many tiny flowers bunched together. Each little flower becomes a seed... We don't like them in our gardens. AND YET: The dandelion plant is a beneficial weed, with a wide range of uses, and is even a good companion plant for gardening. Its taproot will bring up nutrients for shallower-rooting plants, and add minerals and nitrogen to soil. It is also known to attract pollinating insects and release ethylene gas which helps fruit to ripen. Taraxacum seeds are an important food source for certain birds. "You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star." quote by Friedrich Nietzsche OR "In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order." quote by Carl Jung I am doing another one of my 'FLOWER-STUDIES'. Another thing I love about being a photographer, you start looking in a 'different' way? Enjoy and make the BEST of every day! MEANDERINGS ...

MY IMAGES ARE FOR SALE ONLY FROM ME, DIRECTLY, see below! Celosia cristata. This yellow one, common name Yellow Toreador... Also Cockscomb... Taken with natural light on a flower market selling bouquets to melt for...on the Continent... In the Victorian language of flowers, Celosias signified humour, warmth, and silliness. The cockscomb or cristata types feel and look like velvet, soft and shiny. Lead and enjoy a good life, do and say things that enrich... and do not forget to tell the people close to you, how much you love them! EXOTICA 1... KANGAROO PAWS...

Anigozanthos are commonly known as kangaroo paw and catspaw depending on the shape of their flowers. The tuberous flower buds are also covered with coloured hairs, giving it a velvety aspect. These long furry hairs also determine the colour of the flower, which may range from almost black to yellow, orange and red. The tubular form of the flower bud resembles a kangaroo paw, hence its name. A stunningly beautiful flower, exotic, well to us, not in the countries where they grow naturally. I always say it, one man's exotic is another man's 'daily'... lol I again tried to photograph them in the 'style that I love so much, a bit moody, playing with the light and dof. MENAGE à TROIS… Kniphofia

Kniphofia also called tritoma, red hot poker, torch lily or poker plant, is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asphodelaceae, first described as a genus in 1794. It is native to Africa. All plants produce spikes of upright, brightly coloured flowers well above the foliage, in shades of red, orange and yellow, often bicoloured. The flowers produce copious nectar while blooming and are attractive to bees. In the New World they may attract sap-suckers such as hummingbirds and New World orioles. The Kniphofia genus is named after Johann Hieronymus Kniphof, an 18th-century German physician and botanist. A stunning flower, exotic, well to us, not in the countries where they grow naturally. I always say it, one man's exotic is another man's 'daily'... lol I again tried to photograph them in the 'style that I love so much, a bit moody, playing with the light and dof. JOY, WISDOM, POWER… YELLOW ROSE

Yellow roses are the perfect way to toast friends, lift spirits and send a general wish for well-being. You can never go wrong with yellow roses. In many Eastern cultures, the colour represents joy, wisdom and power, the symbolism of flowers eh. By the 18th century the worldwide love of roses was in full swing, but they were only cultivated in shades of pink and white. At last, the elusive yellow rose was discovered growing wild in the Middle East, and the European love affair with yellow roses was born. The early yellow rose lacked the sweet scent for which the rose is now also famous. So, as cultivation methods were developed and refined, the beloved sweet-and-spicy rose scent was soon introduced and the yellow rose achieved all its optimistic and aromatic glory. LEGEND… St John’s Wort

A small series of more humble flowers from the garden. Hypericum perforatum, known as Perforate St John's-wort, St John's wort is a flowering plant in the family Hypericaceae. St. John's Wort has been used in medicine for over 2.400 years. It was used in ancient Greece and prescribed by Hippocrates and others for insanity, among other problems. It was also used in the Crusades to treat battle wounds. It is associated with St. John the Baptist. It was gathered on St. John's Day and soaked in olive oil to create an anointing oil called the "Blood of Christ". It is said that the red sap "bleeds" in August on the day when St. John was beheaded. The ancient name Fuga Daemonum (Scare Devil) and the Latin name Hypericum ("over" + "apparition") attests to its usefulness in driving away evil spirits. The latter may also refer to the fact that it was hung over religious icons. It was hung in the home, and carried as a talisman. It was also used to protect from lightening strikes. One legend says that if you step on a St. John's Wort plant, you will be stolen away by a faerie horse. St. John's Wort was also used for divination of romance and longevity. St. John's Wort was hung over the beds of the members of a household to divine their longevity. The sprig that was most wilted the next morning indicated who would die the soonest. Keeping a sprig under your pillow is said to grant you a vision of St. John who will promise that you will live another year. If no such vision comes, however… expect you will soon die. All of these should, of course, be done on Midsummer or St John's Eve. LOL. This is a bushy little perennial and very winter hardy. It is a medicinal herb with antidepressant activity and potent anti-inflammatory. Flowers are used to produce a yellow dye. The stem produces a red dye. In the garden St. John's Wort attracts bees. In large doses, St John's wort is poisonous to grazing livestock (cattle, sheep, goats, horses). THE HONEY-TRAP...

Meconopsis Cambrica. Yellow poppy or Welsh Poppy is a Perennial flowers, a wildflower of the British Isles. This genus contains some of the most exquisitely beautiful of all flowering plants. I had only ever seen them like in my native Flanders... RED... here Yellow! I like my garden, near the city, to be a haven for bees and butterflies. People smile when they pass... because of the colours, I mix herbs and flowers, it is semi-wild? I let it 'overgrow' in a controlled way, simply because I do not like weeding AND I do not have enough time. Well, it was inevitable that from some neighbouring garden, some of the wild yellow poppies were eventualy carried by wind or bird? They look lovely in their bright yellow frocks and are a real honey-trap for bees! I had to hurry, they are so very ephemeral! Giving my flowers SOUL? FESTIVE FLOWERWORKS, OF A YELLOW PROTEA...

...that thinks it is a fire-cracker? I photographed this in the studio, playing with lights yet again, flags and cutters... I wanted it to look like fireworks. Because today, I celebrate: 1 year on 500 px! Leucospermum cordifolium belongs to the protea family and is indigenous to South Africa. Some of the most spectacular species in the diverse vegetation are the proteas of the Cape region . Protea is both the botanical name and the English common name of a genus of flowering plants, sometimes also called sugarbushes (SUIKERBOSSIE). It is the stiff protruding styles of the flowers which are the source of the common name "pincushion" for this genus. The genus Protea was named in 1735 by Carolus Linnaeus after the Greek god Proteus who could change his form at will, because proteas have such different forms. Giving my flowers SOUL? 'PINCUSHION' PROTEA EXOTICA..

I can absolutely see why this is called the 'PINCUSHION' PROTEA.
'Die enige eg SUIKERBOSSIE (ZA).'
The outside feels as it looks: waxy, but the inside is like down feathers...
They are so exotic to me, but where they grow they are just part of people's world, he?
Protea flowers normally remain closed, (with the style curved, and the stigma within the mass of tepals), until an insect, bird, or rodent disturbs the flower. At that point, the flower snaps open, the style straightens and the stigma is held some distance above the bloom. NATURE at it's VERY best!!!

TURN YOUR FACE TOWARDS THE SUN... The Teddy Bear Sunflower...

Sunflower 'Teddy Bear', Helianthus annuus. Big, double, fluffy teddy bear of a flower, A common misconception is that sunflowers track the sun. In fact, mature flowerheads typically face east and do not move. The leaves and buds of young sunflowers do exhibit heliotropism (sun turning). Their orientation changes from east to west during the course of a day... From the Americas, sunflower seeds were brought to Europe in the 16th century, where, along with sunflower oil, they became a widespread cooking ingredient. Leaves of the sunflower can be used as cattle feed, while the stems contain a fibre which may be used in paper production. AUJOURD’HUI c’est l’Automne!

The days grow shorter and the shadows longer… I always feel a little melancholic when it is Autumn, it still has more the flavour of Summer, yet not the promise of Winter. Slowly the fragrance of decay fills the air, the colours are starting to change, they will erupt in one last beautiful burst! I sense in people that they want to ignore this season and pretend it IS still Summer. Nature is also hanging on awhile longer. However, in the shops, it is full on Autumn, the clothes and shoes, the flowers and food! , we are being well ‘guided’, LOL Here, one double Sunflower bloom, ‘Teddy Bear’ nd two Ornamental fruit pumpkins. CARNAVAL d'AUTOMNE...

... small CHRYSANTHEMUMS I wish you all a HAPPY AUTUMN. The season of the golden colours. I like it because the sun is a caress now and not a bite, like in Summer... I bought a mixed bouquet of flowers, five stems of different small chrysanthemums. There was only the one, like the one nobody wanted and yet so colourful together, well it looked a bit sad, but I saw the beauty in it. I immortalised each separately. These are the biggest, but still of the small variety. So, more challenges and light exercises from the studio, I stood on a ladder to take these. Yes... risking life and limb to bring you the best images, heeeeeeeeee Have a great day and thanx, M, (*_*) For more of my other work or if you want to PURCHASE (ONLY PLACE TO BUY!), VIEW THE NEW PORTFOLIOS AND LATEST NEWS : www.indigo2photography.com Please do not use this image on websites, blogs or any other media without my explicit permission. © All rights reserved

THE REAL DEAL... A SINGLE YELLOW CHRYSANTHEMUM

So, I continue my series of Chrysanthemums... it is their season... It looks like silk, it feels like silk, but it is a fresh, live flower! View On proper Black The Yellow Chrysanthemum is the official flower of Japan. As we all know, Japan commonly known as the land of the rising sun and the flower is used as a symbol of sun and the perfection of life. Added to that, this flower is also honoured in the popular “Festival of Happiness” celebrated once a year. It is believed that placing a petal from this large colourful flower next to the bottom of a wine glass will bring a long and healthy life. During the War of Dynasty in 1357, each Japanese warrior wore a yellow chrysanthemum as a pledge of courage. The Tale of Genji is a classic work of Japanese literature written by the Japanese noblewoman and lady-in-waiting Murasaki Shikibu in the early years of the 11th century; "Genji and his friends are lying around discussing the different types and aspects of women. One of them mentions the Chrysanthemum Festival, trying to write the appropriate poem, "...and here comes a lament from her, full of 'chysanthemum dew'..." "Ladies moistened a bit of chrysanthemum-patterned brocade with dew from chrysanthemum flowers, rubbed their cheeks with it to smooth the wrinkles of age (since chrysanthemum dew conferred immortal youth), and composed poems lamenting the sorrows of growing old.".................. FALLEN GLORY...

AB FAV for today… https://www.facebook.com/groups/1148438991917313/ I love Autumn; I perceive it as a time of 'reflection', look back on the past of this year, remembering the joys of spring, the warmth of summer... and always the light... It can be a bit nostalgic, the days get shorter, the shadows grow taller, however... the evenings get longer... it is cosy, bring out some candles, we seem to get ready for the 'hibernation', being more inside, wondering what this season has in store, will it be wet? Will it be cold? Will we (please) get snow? A long autumn and short winter, or a short autumn, making winter seem endless? Here the days now start quite misty, but the sun is still strong enough to burn it off, the evenings are cold, the skies are most beautiful, with sunsets to die for... In a sudden burst, the leaves change from tired-looking into this magic coat of colours. If lucky the fun can last, but it often takes only a few stormy hours to make it a multi-coloured carpet, baring the now skeletal trees. Food for the roots, the new leaves next year... and so it goes on... year after year... A COLOURFUL GOOD-BYE! ABUNDANCE… IRIS

MARCH—> month of HOPE, beauty and joy. The name Iris is Greek and it means rainbow for its many colours. However, most irises are shades of blue or purple. The majority of irises that we see today are hybrids of the originals. The iris has been around for many centuries, and many artists have chosen to paint them. There are several famous paintings of the flowers. From 1888 to 1890, Van Gogh painted at least four paintings of irises. Monet painted "Iris" sometime between 1914 and 1917. Not only is the iris a beautiful flower, but also they have several uses. As a live plant they are used as a water purifier. They are ingredients in some perfumes, homemade toothpaste, pottery and herbal medicines. The stylised iris, fleur-de-lis, descends from the white iris which is native to Florence, Italy and which grew even in its city walls. This white iris, displayed against a red background, became the symbol of Florence until the Medici family, to signal a change in political power, reversed the colours making the white one red and setting in motion a centuries-long breeding program to hybridise a red iris. Catherine de Medici carried this symbol of Florence to Paris when she married the king of France where this most famous of irises acquired its nickname, fleur-de-lis. The iris has been associated with France as Louis VII adopted it as a symbol in the 12th Century. Contemporary uses can be seen in the Quebec flag and on the flag of Saint Louis, Missouri. The iris is now the sole feature on the flag of the Brussels-Capital Region, symbol of Brussels, since historically; the important Saint Gaugericus Island was carpeted in them. The Iris is the state flower of Tennessee. It is a woman’s name Furthermore, it is the almost universal symbol of Scouting. In Flowers'-language: Iris means faith; hope; wisdom and valour In Fine Arts: the lenses also have an iris diaphragm which can be opened and closed to control the amount of light reaching the film. Named for the shape of their leaves, like blades, gladioli – from the Latin word “gladius,” meaning sword – have a history than spans from Africa to the Mediterranean.
