MONSTROUS BEAUTY or BEAUTIFUL MONSTER?

A FOND FAREWELL… TULIPS

These double Tulips were slowly, beautifully ‘drying’… Becoming more curved and whimsial Sometimes some flowers will lose their petals while others will just ‘mummify’ in the warmth of the studio conditions. I know that some people are not keen on decay and that others love it. But here I saw such beauty still, in the shapes and the colours. Another of my personal favourites. Have a wonderful day, filled with love and thanks for your ALL your comments and visits, so appreciated, M, (*_*) For more of my other work visit here: www.indigo2photography.com Please do not use this image on websites, blogs or any other media without my explicit permission. © All rights reserved

EQUILIBRIUM… TULIP

#abfav_red The petal of a parrot tulip, dropped off and was caught on the leaf. Now I love images that are different, and this here truly captured my imagination! Beyond the obvious! Love it! Each time I think... that's it, there's only so much you can do with flowers... and yet again and again, I'll see something new. Being creative is not a choice... it is an urge in me. #abfav_films_songs Scorpio is a 1973 spy film directed by Michael Winner and starring Burt Lancaster, Alain Delon and Paul Scofield. This Tulip dried along the others, but turned into what looked like a scorpion… LOL Imagination is a wonderful thing eh… Sometimes some flowers will lose their petals while others will just ‘mummify’ in the warmth of the studio conditions. I know that some people are not keen on decay and that others love it. But here I saw such beauty still, in the shapes and the colours. Another of my personal favourites. RENAISSANCE… Tulip

‘Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things.’ Robert Brault RENAISSANCE, in this case re-awakening… into something different, beauty of the second kind. the inviting Parrot-tulip. I held a jewel in my fingers And went to sleep. The day was warm, and winds were prosy; I said: "'T will keep." ATCHOOO... Tulip

#abfav_favourite_spring_theme THE SNEEZING PARROT TULIP, LOL. SPRING—> POLLEN… hay fever, allergies, a nightmare for some! "A sneeze begins with a sudden inhalation. This is the ‘Aaah’ part of the sneeze. The ‘Choo!’occurs on the exhale because most of the muscles in your body are reflexively contracting. This clamps your mouth shut until the pressure in your lungs rises too high and the air escapes in a burst. Since your tongue is pressing against the roof of your mouth, the air makes a ‘ch’ sound, and with your lips pursed, it emerges as an ‘oo’.” Best explanation I EVER saw of a sneeze! Thank you Mohammad Rashid, Wakefield I wish you all a very good day and thanx for all your kind words, time, comments and likes. Very much appreciated. I BELIEVE I CAN FLY… Tulip

February —> LOVE, romance and beauty month. called Rococo, Parrot Tulips. Now Coco is commonly called a parrot in fiction, especially comic books, but also in reality! On the Continent, England is more Polly???? Rococo or "Late Baroque", is an early to late French 18th-century artistic movement and style, affecting many aspects of the arts including painting, sculpture, architecture, interior design, decoration, literature, music, and theatre. It developed in the early 18th century in Paris, France as a reaction against the grandeur, symmetry, and strict regulations of the previous Baroque style, especially of the Palace of Versailles, until it was redone. Rococo artists and architects used a more jocular, florid, and graceful approach to the Baroque. I love Parrot Tulips, especially the red ones, the colourful frivolous buds can open into a gorgeous voluptuous blooms... Hope this brings a bit of joy again rather than Angst which I see in so many images and shares, have a good day and thanks for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*) For more of my other work or if you want to purchase, visit here: www.indigo2photography.com IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) ALL PARTIED OUT... and AN EPIPHANY...

On the twelfth day of Christmas... Epiphany (feeling) An epiphany (from the ancient Greek ἐπιφάνεια, epiphaneia, "manifestation, striking appearance") is the sudden realization or comprehension of the (larger) essence or meaning of something. So, OKE... I get it, THE PARTY IS OVER, good caus' I'm knackered... says this Rococo parrot tulip! Despite its popular image, epiphany is the result of significant labor on the part of the discoverer and is only the satisfying result of a long process, usually involving significant periods of labor. The surprising and fulfilling feeling of epiphany is so surprising because one cannot predict when one's labor will bear fruit, and our subconsciousness can play a significant part in delivering the solution; and is fulfilling because it is a reward for a long period of labor. It took me over 20 years to get the result I wanted... many different cameras and lenses, even more lights, reflectors all sort, films, positive, negative, Polaroi, cutters, flags...hits and misses... Yes I've earned my stripes, lol. Giving my flowers SOUL? My Soul Flowers on youtube and Studio Flowers 2011 I wish all the visitors and friends the very best and thanx for all your kind words, time, comments and faves. Very much appreciated. MAGNIFICENT SEVEN…. PARROT TULIPS

To quote from Matthew Wood: “….every plant is a process, a story, an image.” When we know how to observe a plant, we can discover what is behind the image and thereby learn what the plant “is good for” These are all of the same ‘family’ yet all very different… Art works of Nature! Love them or hate them, big and beautiful, they have flamboyant flowers with streaks, ruffles and frayed edges. A PARROT TULIP QUARTET...

Brought back these Parrot tulips from the Continent... they were very fresh, kept them in the cool and dark, they survived 6 days and our travels, enough for me to still be able to photograph them. They are so curvy and capricious and gorgeously unique... On a serious note: I get between 300 and 500 emails a day, many with requests about my lighting. I have no secrets really. Each flower shot is lit individually. There's no magic formula. I use continuous light, I'm not keen on flash, together with an array of reflectors, flags and cutters to shape the light. It took me over 20 years of work and experimentation to learn the language of light. I knew exactly what I wanted, I could see it with my minds eye, and I was determined my eyes were going to see it for real one day! If I may humbly offer some advice, like I give to pupils in a workshop? I am NOT one of those 'teachers' that want little ME's, no, the individuality of a person is too precious! Each photographer must pursue their own vision and develop a unique style and voice. You can only do that through constantly experimenting and trying things and then when you find a look that you like you have to pursue and refine it with a passion. I work over 10 hours a day on my photography. I wish you all of the best in your photographic endeavours. Giving my flowers SOUL? I suppose we all have 'little' secrets which sometimes we do feel like sharing, with someone you can trust, and, have a laugh about it? I keep telling you, I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen! These Rococo Tulips I overheard, well, not really, but they definitely shared the moment and the laugh? ANY WHICH WAY… PARROT TULIPS

Deux Cocos Rouges… Coco is commonly called a parrot in fiction, especially comic books, but also in reality! I love Parrot Tulips, especially the red ones, the colourful frivolous buds can open into a gorgeous voluptuous blooms... but mostly for their curves, and all the colours of the rainbow on their petals. ‘Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend…’ Quote by Albert Camus Hope this brings a bit of joy again rather than Angst which I see in so many images, have a good day and thanks for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*) For more of my other work or if you want to purchase, visit here: www.indigo2photography.com IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (BY LAW!!!) THE LOVESICK PARROT TULIPS...

THEME: Valentine. Valentine's day is getting closer... I know it is mostly about commerce and some are a bit blasé about it, but it is a nice thought, although one day in the year is not enough, in my book, to pay 'special' attention to your partner. Here it is Valentine's day EVERY DAY, we give flowers when WE feel like it! LOL. Gabriel García Márquez wrote: " If I would know that these would be the last minutes that I will see you, I would say to you, 'I love you' and wouldn't assume that you would know..." Much as I like his writing, I can't help but wonder, why wait for 'the last' minutes??? Say it as often as you feel it, I do! OPEN ARMS... for the ROMANTIC SEASON.

So now I come to you with open arms Nothing to hide, believe what I say So here I am with open arms Hoping you'll see what your love means to me, open arms... Excerpt from Open Arms Songwriters: Cain, Jonathan; Perry, Steve; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uk41eifzuH4&feature=related Valentine's day is getting closer... I know it is mostly about commerce and some are a bit blasé about it, but it is a nice thought, although one day in the year is not enough, in my book, to pay 'special' attention to your partner. Here it is Valentine's day EVERY DAY, we give flowers when WE feel like it! LOL. LES CHANTEUSES… Parrot TULIPs

I could hear and see them sing… the Flower Duet by Delibes, Viens Malika Hit those high notes girls, LOL Love Parrot tulips, especially the red ones, the colourful frivolous bud can open into a gorgeous voluptuous bloom... THE SILENCE of the TULIP…

FLOWERS WITH EMOTION. Rococo parrot tulip. An IMPORTANT, all too often forgotten, ingredient in photography, more IMPORTANT than technical prowess I feel, a photo without emotion is ... just a 'picture'? Yes, that can even be expressed with and by flowers. I times of discomfort, fear, sadness, we gather, huddle and hug? We look for some kind of reassurance? Tears badly hidden, arms longing, feeling the need for one another more than ever. I do NOT talk to flowers... but I will gladly listen, with my eyes. BRRR, COLD SNAP? Parrot tulip.

A shivering tulip, what next eh? LOL The Ice Saints or Frost Saints is a name given to St. Mamertus, St. Pancras, and St. Servatius in Austrian, Belgian, Croatian, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Hungarian, North-Italian, Polish, Slovene and Swiss folklore. They are so named because their (name) feast days are known as "the black-thorn winter". This period from May 11 to May 15 was noted to bring a brief spell of colder weather in many years, including the last nightly frosts of the spring, in the Northern Hemisphere under the Julian Calendar. Every year it is the same, some milder days yes, however it only really warms up AFTER, what the French call, Les Saints de Glace. There are people who 'talk' to the flowers and plants? Me, I just 'listen' to them. And I only buy flowers that speak yo me... Wrap up, some morning frost still possible judging by the predictions! THE SOLITUDE of the LONE TULIP…

A {PARROT} tulip of the season, I saw this one. It had a sense of loneliness. It looked somewhat lost, also pure, just organic shapes, to bring out what I love, the subtle and varied tones, that give the flower/petals/stems their texture, depth and form, their delectable shapes accentuated, extracted and emphasised the colour through light. SHOW OFF... the inviting Parrot-Tulip...

I like this poem, because of the analogy wit flowers and photography! If it is ready, photograph it, it might NOT be there tomorrow!

Title: The Lost Jewel
Author: Emily Dickinson

I held a jewel in my fingers
And went to sleep.
The day was warm, and winds were prosy;
I said: "'T will keep."

I woke and chid my honest fingers,
The gem was gone;
And now an amethyst remembrance
Is all I own.

WHO'S A PRETTY POLLY??? A Parrot tulip.

I love Parrot tulips, especially the red ones, the colourful frivolous bud can open into a gorgeous voluptuous bloom... I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen! You can see for yourself what this Rococo tulip was saying!!! LUSCIOUS PETALS...

This is an 'organic' close-up of a variegated tulip, they are called Rococo Parrot tulips.

The Tulip was originally a wild flower growing in the Central Asia and was first cultivated by the Turks as early as 1,000 AD.
In the beginning of the 17th century the tulips were starting to be used as a garden decoration beside the former medicinal purposes. It soon gained major popularity as a trading product, especially in Holland.
The interest for the flower was huge and bulbs were sold for unbelievably high prices. Botanists soon found ways of making it an even more decorative and tempting specimen. Hybrids and mutations of the flower were seen as rarities and a sign of high status. In the months of late 1636 to early 1637 there was a complete “Tulip mania” in the Netherlands. Some examples could cost more than an Amsterdam house at this time. Even ordinary men took part in the business. They saw how much money the upper class got in trading and thought that this was an easy way of getting lots of money at no risk. The bulbs were usually sold by weight while they were still in the ground. The trade with the un-sprouted flower came to be called “wind trade”.
The traders made fabulous amounts of money every month, and people started to sell their businesses, family homes, farm animals, furnishings and dowries to participate. The government could not do anything to stop it, the trade was all about access and demand. But finally the tulip did not appear to be quite so rare to justify such high prices. Over-supply led to lower prices and dealers went bankrupt and many people lost their savings because of the trade. This “Tulip Crash” made the government introduce special trading restrictions for the flower. It is said that the flower became so popular because of the bright colours, dramatic flames and frilly petals. To have tulips in one’s home was a way to impress, and when the wealth spread down the social ladder, so did the urge for tulips.

THE THINKER... PARROT-TULIP I am in a red day, lol. In the swirling, curling storm of desire unuttered words hold fast With reptile tongue, the lightning lashes towers built to last Darkness creeps in like a thief and offers no relief Why are you shaking like a leaf Come on, come talk to me Peter Gabriel Come Talk To Me Lyrics I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen! You can see for yourself that this Rococo Parrot tulip was thinking, waiting patiently for me to get the lights right!!! For years I 'experimented' in the studio, to get that Flemish painter's light? Well, I was born in Flanders, it must be in my blood? LOL. About Rodin’s sculpture: The three larger marble versions were exhibited together at the Musée d'Orsay in 1995. A fourth, smaller copy, about 90 centimetres (35 in) in height, compared to 181.5 centimetres (71.5 in) for the copy in Paris, was made after the death of Rodin by sculptor Henri-Léon Gréber for the Rodin Museum of Philadelphia. TWIST AND SHOUT…

the last days of a parrot Tulip. Parrot tulips, which first appeared in France, found their way to the Netherlands in the Eighteenth century, where they were highly prized and extremely expensive. They are cup-shaped, fringed, twisted and ruffled tulips decorated with vivid, flame-like splashes, stripes or feathery markings. They came in many colours, here white and pink, with some yellow and green streaks, a ’softer’ variety. ATCHOOO...THE SNEEZING PARROT TULIP

MY IMAGES ARE FOR SALE ONLY FROM ME, DIRECTLY, see below! I had some fun in the studio again! THE SNEEZING PARROT TULIP, LOL. The weather is sad for this beautiful month of May, too cold, windy (aah, poor blossoms), sudden rain, yet when the sun is out it feels wonderful. Many people have colds, coughing and sneezing... "A sneeze begins with a sudden inhalation. This is the ‘Aaah’ part of the sneeze. The ‘Choo!’ occurs on the exhale because most of the muscles in your body are reflexively contracting. This clamps your mouth shut until the pressure in your lungs rises too high and the air escapes in a burst. Since your tongue is pressing against the roof of your mouth, the air makes a ‘ch’ sound, and with your lips pursed, it emerges as an ‘oo’." Best explanation I EVER saw of a sneeze! MINUET… for PARROT TULIPS…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RJ6odnSElY Paderewsk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=on1DDSLdDOo It was established in the 1970s that the famous Minuet in G major, previously attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, was in fact the work of Petzold. Minuet is a dance, of French origin, in a moderate triple metre. It was known at Louis XIV's court as an elegant social dance performed by one couple at a time, and remained the most popular dance among the European aristocracy until the late 18th century. Italian minuets, often in 3/8 or 6/8 time, were faster. They came in many colours, here white and pink, a ’softer’ variety. ILLUMINATI… Tulips

The ‘enlightened”, LOL, or in this case the ‘well lit’, euhhh, or my way? The lumen (symbol: lm) is the SI derived unit of luminous flux, a measure of the total quantity of visible light emitted by a source. Brightness (white light output) measures the total amount of light projected in lumens. The colour brightness specification Colour Light Output measures red, green, and blue each on a nine-point grid, using the same approach as that used to measure brightness. Parrot tulips, which first appeared in France, found their way to the Netherlands in the Eighteenth century, where they were highly prized and extremely expensive. THE SEXUALITY of THE PARROT TULIP…

Monty Don writes on that subject: “There is something in the form and detail of tulips that manages to be beautiful while being outrageously sexy. You cannot hide this in a cloak of horticulture or blind botany. From the first, men have lusted after tulips, ruined themselves for possession of them exactly as they have lusted after women. All the great courtesans were tulips. Cleopatra and Marilyn Monroe were tulips. The full curve of hip and buttock with tuck of waist is drawn in satin petals. The admiration is sexual more than aesthetic, and there is more than a touch of sexual ambiguity. The folded leaves around the swollen bud are vulval, yet at the same time they are overtly and precisely phallic, knowing no sexual boundaries. Tulips are our temple paintings, a celebration of beauty and sex decorously growing in the safety of the garden.” Sometimes, just sometimes, a flower will reveal all! FRIVOLOUS... TULIP

FRIVOLOUS... TULIP A tulip, open and inviting. TULIP frazzled, frayed. Sometimes I just 'feeeeeeeeel' like this, a flower image in b&w... I love the subtle tones, all the varied tones, that give the flower/petals/stamens their texture, depth and form, their delectable shapes accentuated, extracted and emphasized without the colour.
